Publisher's summary

The second of Kate Skylark's co-created true child-abuse stories.

Steve Gilbert is a charming, clever man. Lucy is his 10-year-old daughter. Lucy loves him to bits, just as all little girls love their daddies, and she is delighted to hear he has organized a special party for her. After all, little girls love parties. But Steve Gilbert is also a sociopathic, manipulative sexual predator. Brainwashed into accepting her father’s twisted view of the world, Lucy trusts him implicitly. Daddy will keep her safe; he will keep her happy. Daddy would never betray his little girl, would he? But as time goes on, Steve Gilbert’s evil manipulations escalate, and following a shocking string of events, Lucy’s innocent young life turns from simple happy childhood to an abusive nightmare. Only one person can save her now.

Lucy Gilbert and Kate Skylark are friends and confidants. They created this book together to help raise money to help children in danger.

Warning: This book is based upon a true account of child abuse and, as such, contains passages that some listeners may find disturbing.

Rough

It’s hard to review a book that is so sad because it’s a true story. I knew what I was about to listen to but it doesn’t make it easier.

Brave

This was hard to listen due to my PTSD but finished this book and I love how the story ended. Lucy and her Mom are so brave. I'm glad Lucy was able to share this story.

Shocking true story of child sexual abuse

Very well-written story, but hard to listen to because of the subject matter. A very important book to help gain insight into this horrible crime from the perspective of the victim. my heart goes out to these courageous women that open up this dark and painful part of their lives to help others.

Very well written and kept me listening

I listened through the entire thing in the first day. No child should have to go through such horror. I work as a family support specialist and see so many broken children/teens. We all have to remember to trust our hearts and be their voice.

💔

The story is very well written. For me it is emotional terrible and it breaks my heart. It makes me want to find these children and take them away from the evil bastards that can do this to a child. Rape is so wrong and it doesn't matter if it's a man, woman or child. Men and women alike can be an evil person like this. Unfortunately even a child can be an evil sex offended. They have to learn it from someone though. 😪😭

Unbelievable that this happens!

How does this happen with grown men! How does a father do this to his own daughter. I work in a school and will watch for signs even more. These poor helpless babies.
