About this listen

You're not going home. You're not going anywhere. You're mine now.

Growing up in a deeply troubled family, 15-year-old Anna felt lost and alone in the world. So when a friendly taxi driver befriended her, Anna welcomed the attention, and agreed to go home with him to meet his family. She wouldn't escape for over a decade.

Held captive by a sadistic pedophile, Anna was subjected to despicable levels of sexual abuse and torture. The unrelenting violence and degradation resulted in numerous miscarriages, and the birth of four babies.... each one stolen away from Anna at birth.

Her salvation arrived 13 years too late, but despite her shattered mind and body, Anna finally managed to flee. This is her harrowing, yet uplifting, true story of survival.

Contains mature themes.

So very disappointed in the author

To hear her story of survival and her still not going to the police to potentially stop this from happening to anyone else was the biggest let down for me. The story grips you from the start. .. I’m glad she got out. But that man is still free ..smh.

Absolutely heartbreaking!

I have read an astonishing number of fostering and other similar books out of the UK that have to do with Pakistani men that are pedophile’s and are very violent. I have read a lot of the reviews here and yea I agree their are a lot of inconsistencies but one suffering through these types of trauma I can’t imagine retains it all, recalls everything. I am assuming that though she only recalls the one bath and washing I’m sure that happened more then just that once but maybe that is the one that stood out to her or the one that her brain processed. I don’t think a survivor/victim processes even a fraction of what happens to them in that situation.

I can’t imagine how difficult it was to recall all these terrors or how one moves past the feelings of shame and blame. None of those things were her fault although I know it’s harder then just some saying “it’s not your fault” or “you did nothing wrong to be ashamed of” I know those feeling are deep. I hope that through living, therapy, and strength you find the courage to prosecute these awful scum bags and hopefully draw some strength from the other survivor/victim that obviously also needs courage and support.

As far as the things I didn’t understand in the book such as signing over her babies, time frames adding up or details about the health visitor, maybe those things are not for me to understand I’m sure there was a reason at the time for the decision and possible errors in the recalling of those details. Those details are not for me to judge or scrutinize.

Hard to listen to but needs to be shared. My heart goes out to you and I wish you all the best moving forward.

Sending Love

I am so proud of Anna for her strength. Those who question the truthfulness of her story live a privileged life. Abuse, especially sexual abuse, puts one in a state that is not able to be understood by those who have not been through these horrors.

INTENSELY GRAPHIC

I have never heard of such ways to abuse a woman like this before. It’s INSANELY GRAPHIC!

Armchair therapist need not leave a review

The number of low star reviews stating that the story is unbelievable because of her severe brainwashing and trama have no idea what they are talking about. Your harsh words are revictimizing someone who spent 13 years in captivity. You call it voluntary captivity because she was too afraid to tell the truth. This is no better than judging domestic violence victims because they 'chose' not to leave.

I sincerely hope none of you ever have to go through the severe gaslighting, manipulation, slow and painful building of complex post traumatic stress disorder.

To the author: for other victims, I hope you can find the bravery to prosecute your tormentors one day. Maybe by sharing your story it is a step in the right direction towards educating the uneducated on just how severe on human exploitation and trafficking is.

Beat best book ever!!!

First if u have had any trauma or PTSD, this can either help or hurt you. Listen with caution. This has to be one of the best books I’ve ever read/listen to. I couldn’t stop thinking about it allll day. I found myself not able to wait to listen. For my preference I like real raw stories. I don’t like sugar coated or bleeped out thing. I appreciated this in the book. I’ve never heard of such a horrific story and I’ve read many many books. This takes the topper. My heart goes out to the author and her biological children that could eventually fall upon the same treatment. I googled so much of this story and unfortunately I could not find the real Anna, as I was dying to know what she looked it. But rightfully so she’s in hiding after what I just heard. Love love love this book. By far one my favorites!

A hard story to hear

I could barely listen to the terror that you survived. I don’t think I have ever known or have heard of a stronger person than you. I wish you peace for the rest of your days 💖

Story time

Don’t read this if your sensitive. This is brutal and heart wrenching. Beautiful story and very well written given the circumstances of the topic. Recommend 100% IF you can handle the content
