When somebody wanted something from her—even a stranger—she gave it, no matter how uncomfortable, exhausted, or resentful she felt inside. People-pleasing, she learned, was a coping mechanism that had kept her physically and emotionally safe in the past, but wreaked havoc on her life in the present—and she was committed to breaking the pattern once and for all.

Relationships have always been essential to human survival. Our bodies and brains are programmed to seek out connection, whether familial, romantic, or platonic. Story
In these gorgeously written and timely pieces, prizewinning poet and author Gay considers the joy we incite when we care for each other, especially during life’s inevitable hardships. Throughout Inciting Joy, he explores how we can practice recognizing that connection, and also, crucially, how we can expand it. Taking a clear-eyed look at injustice, political polarization, and the destruction of the natural world, Gay shows us how we might resist, how the study of joy might lead us to a wild, unpredictable, transgressive, and unboundaried solidarity. In fact, it just might help us survive.

Each of us has a dual nature: we are light (conscious) and dark (unconscious). The dark side of our personality - the “other,” the shadow side - is made up of what we think is our primitive, primal, negative impulses - our “existential kink.” Our existential kink also drives the dark or negative repeating patterns in our life: always choosing the abusive partner or boss, settling for less, thinking that we’re undeserving, not worthy. But it also is the source of our greatest power.

“Love is our only hope,” Anne Lamott writes in this perceptive new book. “It is not always the easiest choice, but it is always the right one, the noble path, the way home to safety, no matter how bleak the future looks.” In Somehow: Thoughts on Love, Lamott explores the transformative power that love has in our lives: how it surprises us, forces us to confront uncomfortable truths, reminds us of our humanity, and guides us forward. “Love just won't be pinned down,” she says. “It is in our very atmosphere” and lies at the heart of who we are. We are, Lamott says, creatures of love.

Publisher's summary
Explore the language of feeling as a spiritual practice, reclaim your full self, and expand in ways you haven’t known before.
“Most of us weren’t taught how to feel. In fact, we were taught not to feel,” says Alexandra Roxo. Though we have been taught to deny, repress, and lock away our feelings to get by in our emotionally illiterate culture, our bodies and hearts long to be open and free. With Dare to Feel, Alexandra shares a powerful resource for reclaiming the lost parts of yourself and rediscovering the full richness of your human experience in all its breathless passion, tender vulnerability, and boundless love.
Dare to Feel is a guide on the “transformational path of the heart,” a spiritual practice for connecting more deeply with yourself, others, and the world by accessing the power of your emotions, sensations, and intuition. Through personal stories, poems, rituals, and reflective exercises, Alexandra invites you to explore:
• Why we’ve learned not to feel—the social and internal reasons we retreat from emotions
• Courage and curiosity—guidance for navigating intense feelings in a safe and loving way
• The body’s wisdom—how to awaken your heart’s capabilities through somatic exercises
• The openhearted way—daily practices and steps for becoming more open, joyous, and present to your miraculous life
It takes courage to shed our armor—to stop checking out, overthinking, grabbing for phones, or running for the door. Yet the effort is worth it. “It is when you dare to feel, even when it hurts, that you open the heart and soul,” says Alexandra. “You become the sculptor of your reality and free yourself to experience all your life can be.”
Critic reviews
“At once relatable, heartbreakingly personal, and joyfully liberating, Dare to Feel reveals a path to embodied, heart-centered expression and experience that is so deeply needed at this time.” —John Wineland, author of From the Core
“Alexandra’s vulnerable tales draw us into the relief of honesty and the fires of transformation, inviting us all to live openhearted and free.” —Rebecca Campbell, bestselling author of Rise Sister Rise
“Roxo’s crystal clear ability to communicate the intricacy of our inner worlds as humans is liberating. She puts words on the complexities of our shadows and light, our pain and pleasure, and the magic and mystery of our humanity.” —Sah D’Simone, bestselling author of Spiritually, We

Why have history's greatest minds - from George Washington to Frederick the Great to Ralph Waldo Emerson along with today's top performers, from Super Bowl-winning football coaches to CEOs and celebrities - embraced the wisdom of the ancient Stoics? Because they realize that the most valuable wisdom is timeless and that philosophy is for living a better life, not a classroom exercise. The Daily Stoic offers a daily devotional of Stoic insights and exercises, featuring all-new translations.

In How to Get Sh*t Done she shows how even the most perfectionistic among us can tap in to our inner free spirit and learn to feel like badasses rather than drudges.

Packed with psychological insights, practical tips and personal stories from Tim’s life, Lost & Found is a new kind of self-help book that invites all of you to the table: the bad and the good, your failures and your successes, challenges and breakthroughs.

Transformational on a very deep level
We all learn through story: listening to stories helps us to make sense of life and our own experiences - especially the difficult ones. In a world that encourages us to window dress who we really are / what we’re truly feeling, Alexandra’s raw honesty about her own experiences is not only refreshing, but deeply cathartic. It brings long-buried emotions to the surface and helps to transform them.
Most of us have learned from a very young age to suppress our true feelings because they’re not socially acceptable. Alexandra blows the lid on this unhealthy practice and offers ways to heal from years of bottled up emotions.
This book is a must-read especially if you’re curious about how to fully feel and engage with life, It will help you to be present to whatever is happening instead of taking refuge behind a device or in unhealthy habits that numb what you’re truly feeling.
