About this listen

Since the dawn of human civilization, two warring factions of near-immortals - the descendants of the gods of old - have been secretly shaping its destiny. Amanda's small clan champions progress and peace, while their powerful enemy, the Doomers, propagates ignorance and war.

Descending from a single goddess - the only one to survive the ancient cataclysm that wiped out her kind - Amanda's clan members are forbidden to each other. And as the only other known immortals are their hated enemies, they've been long resigned to a lonely existence of fleeting trysts with human partners. That is, until Amanda, the goddess's youngest daughter and a researcher of paranormal abilities - makes a game-changing discovery; two of her test subjects might be dormant carriers of the immortal gene. But before she can prove it, she gets snatched off a Beverly Hills street by a huge Doomer.

Dalhu can't believe his luck when he stumbles upon the beautiful immortal professor. Presented with a once in a lifetime opportunity to grab an immortal female for himself, he kidnaps her and runs. If he ever gets caught, either by her people or his, his life is forfeit. But for a chance of a loving mate and a family of his own, Dalhu is prepared to do everything in his power to win Amanda's heart, and that includes leaving the Doom brotherhood and his old life behind.

Amanda soon discovers that there is more to the handsome Doomer than his dark past and a hulking, sexy body. But succumbing to her enemy's seduction, or worse, developing feelings for a ruthless killer is out of the question. No man is worth life on the run, not even the one and only immortal male she could claim as her own...Her clan and her research must come first....

Awesome.

Another awesome addition to the Children of the Gods series! My only criticism is that the chapters were very short. But, other than that, it was great. Sexy, fun, and entertaining. I loved that it delved more into other characters this time, while the first three books mostly focused on Kian and Syssi. Dalhu and Amanda's story was very sweet and emotional. I loved this one.

Another great journey

I so enjoyed this story as well as the other...still have more to enjoy. The narration and characters were very well drawn and the " romance" wasn't too shabby!! if you like a little fantasy with your romance you'll love this!

Redemption!

I absolutely love the story of Amanda and Dalhu! The thought that a killer who has been formed through abuse and brainwashing who actively seeks for redemption because of love and the desire to have a family is heart rending. I love Dalhu and can’t wait to see what happens next!

Love this series

This my second time listening to this series. This time I listened to the two prequels first. They gave me new insight. Just as good as the first time I listened to them.

Glad I kept going, series keeps getting better!

This series is truly an ensemble. I typically hate when main characters change with each book and when I saw this installation would feature Amanada and Dalhu, I was a bit skeptical. I'm so invested in Syssi and Kian and don't want them to just fade away. Well - I am SO HAPPY I decided to go for it because this series is really an ensemble story, and the author doesn't ditch or ignore the characters we've already come to love, she just keeps blending in more characters and the world building is becoming so rich as we go along.

Dalhu and Amanda = HOLY FUCKING HOTNESS. Like, damn. Now I'm fully invested in their story too, and every time a new chapter would announce it was one of their POVs, I'd cheer. We still have Kian and Syssi's POV, along with a handful of others and the tapestry of the whole world is getting deliciously complex.

This series has everything: paranormal awesome powers and lore, action scenes, HOT HOT STEAMY SCENES, plotting and drama and philosophical contemplations, power moves and even the very powerful immortals just acting pretty human.

No idea how I hadn't come across this series before now, but I am so happy I have. With 56 books, I'm so stoked for the long haul!!

I happen to love the narration and find the voice is perfect for delivering the brutal sexiness of the immortals gettin' down. Whew.

Amanda has the best story ever!

Amanda & Dalhu are perfect for each other. Andrew needs to stop thinking w/the wrong head. He hasn't spent enough time w/Amanda to even like her. She's too selfish for him & nobody would take her w/these flaws but Dalhu. Kian needs to stop trying to run everyone's life & everything in it.
