About this listen

Obsession

At long last, the story of the beautiful dark-hearted Kitiara Uth Matar. This compelling novel tells the story of the birth of her twin brothers, the warrior Caramon and the frail mage Raistlin, and Kit's admirable role in their upbringing.

But her youthful mercenary deeds and increasing fascination with evil throw her into the company of a roguish stranger and band of adventurers whose fates are intermingled with her own. Haunted by the memory of her Solamnic father, she hunts him ceaselessly.

Tina Daniell's first novel brings to life this remarkable warrior-woman, whose credo of "the sword is truth" becomes her triumph and downfall.

Meh

The story was very bland and slow going. The narrator mispronounced names and places fairly regularly. kind of annoying and takes tou out of the already slow going story.

Nicely done

It's nice to know what made Kitiara the way she is. Young Raistlin and Caramon had me laughing.

A solid listen…

There are few stories of Kitiara Matar … Although later works by Weis & Hickman recon much of this book it’s still enjoyable ….

not the best Dragonlance novel

This story rewrites the character of Kitiara. It is just a series of random adventures until she becomes the tough mercenary described in the Chronicles.

Terrible

Such a terrible book and the reading isn’t any better. I never would have gotten through this if I had been reading it.

Florid and weak, both in writing and reading

I had forgotten how limp the story is in this book since reading it as a youth. Unlike the other Meetings books, the characters so many of us grew to love do not become further illuminated in this work. Instead, we see wan child versions of them, believable perhaps, but sadly not at all interesting. It's not terrible, but worth hearing/reading only for the sake of completion of the series.

The reader is okay, but a few too many times comes across as if she were delivering story time to a group of small children. The text isn't very mature, so that almost fits, but occasionally I found myself picturing felt puppets.

Overall this was not what I was looking for, which I might have expected had I remembered the story better from its original release.

great background story, horribly dry narrating.

I found it odd how a female writer could write about an under age girl character having sex with a older man. If it was a male writer it would be an outrage.
That was the only part of the book I didnt like.

quit after 5 hours.

I tried. Couldn't get into this one. I have a feeling the narrator ruined it for me. Found her to be annoying.

someone fire this narrator

Elisa Carlson is by far the worst narrator i've ever listened to. Audible won't let me return this title but it's been a struggle to get to half way.
This person can't read AT ALL. She keeps pronouncing names wrong, for example, she keeps repeating Abanasia, while it's written AbaNASINIA!!! how can you even miss 3 letters!!!! you had one job miss!
not to mention stopping at every end of line instead of reading the whole sentence. my son of 6 reads better.
way to destroy a perfectly written book miss Carlson!
