Publisher's summary

When it comes to love, there are only two types of people in this world: those who believe it exists and the rest of us - the realists. All that lovey-dovey crap you feel sometimes…it’s in your head. That’s right. Hormones.

For the past five years, I’ve been dishing out dating advice to anyone who’ll listen. But if you write to Ask Adelaide expecting syrupy words or fairy tale musings, you’ll be sorely disappointed. I prefer to slap you with a dose of cold, hard truth, minus the sugar. You can thank me later.

Not to be a hypocrite, of course, I follow all the rules I preach: no second dates, no sleepovers, no exceptions. One red flag and I will ding-dong ditch you faster than you can blink.

No one has better control of their heart than me.

Or so I thought…

Until Nash Evans strolls into my life all strong but silent and gorgeous as sin. The last thing I expect is for him to turn my world on its end and threaten to evict me.

It turns out Nash has rules of his own, and since he’s my new landlord, I need to comply.

Except I can’t.

Background checks are not my friend. And if Nash does a little digging, he’ll discover I didn’t exist beyond five years ago. Or worse, he’ll uncover all the secrets I’ve been trying to outrun.

All books in the Naked in New York Series can be listened to in any order. Happily ever after guaranteed.

Fun, sexy and suspenseful

What a great story! It has passion, fun, suspense and wonderful characters. I really enjoyed how these two got together. They had fire and ice between them. The smirking and fighting between then just made me love them all the more! Just when all is going well the suspense pops up. I really enjoyed that portion because everything gets shaken up. I will say I did get teary eyed over Nash a time or two.

This has wonderful secondary characters. They are lively, colorful and enjoyable. I am speaking of Rose, Poppa, Anya and Hudson. They all added to the story and made me smile.

I did listen to this on audio. Laurie West did a fantastic job!

Brilliant Story & Listen🎧Wonderfully Captivating!

Peyton James pens another wonderful romance novel and I loved everything about it, from her fabulous writing style to the interesting and original characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narration performed by Laurie West, who brought it all to life from the pages to my ears. fabulously delightful romance novel, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire book. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about and even fall for too. Adelaide “Addie” Quinn made some poor decisions when she was younger but has since reinvented herself and put the past behind her. While working as a waitress her blog caught the eye of Anja from Skyward Digital PR and Marketing, she helped Addie get more followers and she became a popular online dating coach and advice columnist of “Ask Adelaide”. Anja is pushing for her to take her career even further by doing in person live shows. Addie is hesitant, afraid that someone will recognize her for the mistakes she has made in the past. The owners of the restaurant where she worked took her under their wing, gave her a room to live in above the restaurant and has lived there for over five years. Developers have been in the area and it shocked her to hear that Angelo and Rosa sold out to one. Nash Evans, a realestate developer and the new owner, stated she could stay in her apartment for six months but wants info from her so he could do a background check. A big no-no for her and she decides she will keep blowing him off for as long as she could. Addie and Nash clashed from the moment they first met, the dialogue and banter between them is hysterical. I loved how Addie rolled with just about every situation thrown her way, even being displaced from her apartment. Nash’s friend Hudson comes to the rescue with a new place to live and it just so happens it is the same building as Nash’s. The chemistry between these two is electric, but both have not the best of luck with relationships, both have been burned in the past and it is hard to trust another and their own judgement. Addie, follows her own advice and by the end she needs to reevaluate her thoughts. Nash was a pleasant surprise, that man had a heart of gold and he remained true to his heart when it came to Addie. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is beautifully written and plotted with a perfect balance of drama, humor, some twists and turns, heartfelt emotions and wonderful romance. Peyton James, thank you for another delightfully entertaining story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Laurie West is a talented narrator and versatile voice artist. She performs the voices for all the characters, does a great job with both the male and female roles, gives each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. She has a complete understanding of the characters she portrayed and sounds believable in every role she plays, and just as I pictured them to sound. She sets the perfect tone for the story, handles the witty dialogue with ease and lands the humor effortlessly. You could hear how much heart he put into her work as she captures the character’s emotions and projects them into her performance. Laurie West is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

Just okay

It’s probably just me, but I couldn’t connect with the main character, Addie, very well. I felt like the conflict was weak. If she would have just told Nash about her past, so much of the story could have been avoided. I thought she needed a better reason than “he’ll think I’m a bad person” to not tell him. It just wasn’t enough for me. The character arc was decent, and the book was well written. The narrator did a good job. I was given this audiobook in return for an honest review.
