Publisher's summary

Winnifred Gobaldi and Byron Visser are not best friends.

Yes, they’ve known each other for years, but they’re not even friendly. Winnie considers them more like casual, distant acquaintances who find each other barely tolerable, especially when he's being condescending (which is all the time).

The truth is, they have nothing in common. She’s a public school science teacher with stars in her eyes, and he’s a pretentious, joyless double PhD turned world-famous bestselling fiction author. She loves sharing her passion for promulgating women in STEM careers and building community via social media, and he eschews all socialization, virtual or otherwise. She’s looking for a side hustle to help pay down a mountain of student debt, and his financial portfolio is the stuff of fiduciary wet dreams. So why are they faking a #bestfriend relationship for millions of online spectators?

When a simple case of tit-for-tat trends between nonfriends leads to a wholly unexpected kind of pretend, nothing is simple. Sometimes, it takes a public audience to reveal the truth of private feelings, and rarely—very rarely—you should believe what you see online.

Ten Trends to Seduce Your Bestfriend is a full-length, complete standalone, adult contemporary romantic comedy.

Perfect

Reid always creates wonderfully complex characters, but this story line was beautifully crafted, too. It was funny, poignant, fascinating and layered. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommended it immediately. Thank you for introducing us to Winnie and Byron!

Male voice extremely mismatched to character

Loved the story and the characters. Cielo Camacho is terrific as usual. Unfortunately the male voice was very mismatched to the character and the handful of chapters (four chapters?) that he narrated it definitely pulled you out of the story a bit. I’m a sucker for a story and I’m glad I stuck with it because the story truly was delightful, I just wish they had a different voice that matched the characteristics defined within the novel.

Wonderful

I ADORED this audiobook! Winnie and Byron are what dreams are made of. The narration is fantastic! I live for a good grumpy/sunshine + enemies to lovers trope. The social media addition makes this novel so relevant and relatable (even if most of us won't become viral sensations!). I can't recommend enough!

Disappointed

I have always enjoyed books by this author but this one is so incredibly boring I could only get halfway through it. The couple you know will eventually get together waits til halfway through a long book before that even began. Spending entirely too much time with the main characters constantly misunderstanding each other. ::yawn:"

Wonderfully funny & complex

Love the complexity of the characters. The storyline is well crafted. This is one that you could reread multiple times and still pick up nuances from.

Love the story

I enjoy the way Penny Reid writes her characters. They are unique and real. This story was lovely. I didn’t hate the male narrator but he did not match the description for Byron.

Drew me in

The struggles the characters had to deal with to communicate really drew me into the story. We all need lessons in communication.

hesitate to purchase bc review but...

I really liked this book! not sure why it had bad reviews. Penny Reid is a slow burn author and this was that! The back story for each character made the awkwardish beginnings make since. I always enjoy a H and h with imperfect love stories it makes the happy ending so much better.

Not a typical Penny Reid read

I usually enjoy this author but this particular book was just very back and forth whining and apologizing. I tried to get into it but just wasn't my cup of tea.
