About this listen

A killer stalks the streets of Dockside, and he has a bone to pick with Roland Tankowicz.

Old friends, former clients, and even rivals find themselves in the sights of a murderer who loves his work a little too much and seems custom-built to take on New Boston’s most famous Army-surplus cyborg. Roland and his team will have to play detective to piece together the identity of this strange assassin before all his associates end up face down in the street.

It would be a full day’s work for anybody, but it wouldn’t be Dockside if a whole crop of other disasters didn’t pop up at the same time just to make things interesting. A possessive ex-boyfriend, upheavals in the local police department, and shadowy corporate interests all choose this moment to rear their ugly heads.

But far be it from the galaxy’s strangest duo of problem solvers to turn away from hard work or a decent paycheck. If anybody can juggle corrupt cops, sinister corporations, and one strange killer all at once, it’s everybody’s least-favorite metal curmudgeon and his hyperkinetic partner.

Before the gunfire fades and the dust settles, The Fixer will meet death head-on to find out if he has what it takes to face down a Dead Man Dreaming.

Another amazing listen

Andrew Vaillencourt has written one of the best Cyberpunk stories I have ever listened to. Simple good listening. Jay Marskon does a great job narrating and from beginning to end its a real page turner (as an audiobook)
very enjoyable

Valencort manages to make an epic more Epic!

It's a hell of a ride , and no one gets away without some big changes! The best cyber tale series switches to high gear and nothing seems off the table. lots of big deaths and some neat reversal of fortune. a good mystery with some teeth that I found pretty compelling, give it a spin yourself.

Hard to be nice about this one..

To much of characters doing things that are rather daft because the narrative requires so and so to happen to progress the story.
Felt like the author purposefully gimped the MC and friends over and over causing the progression of the story from book 1 2 and 3 to just go off course/being stymied, hints of this showed up in book 3 it was fairly regular in book 4. Here in book 5 it was so prevalent that I considered returning the book due to disappointment, having hoped that the series would improve and not devolve like it has to my mind done over the last 2 books.
Feels like the author is a bit tired with the story, there is very little character progression and nearly no tech progression more like regression. Roland only put on his helmet once in this book and I don't think he actually used Durandal at all.

So when all is said and done I found so much wrong with this one that I wont be buying the next few books by this author, if he actually does publish any more that is.
Instead I will check any future works out of whichever "online library" if any ;) uploads them. This to see if said future works are worth the credit / have improved any.

PS.
The narrator does a fairly good job, few if any mistakes none that stuck in my mind anyway. So a solid 4 stars for that.
