Everyone needs a Duke!

B. C. Archer does the characters justice. This author brings characters that are likable and you get invested in. I love the story and interaction between James and Duke. You are given a little information about what caused the people to become Chasers. Hopefully more info will come in book 2. It is a fast pace and action storyline. You are not sure who will make it or not. Looking forward to the rest of the story and adventure of James and Duke.

I struggled getting into this series at first. The story does get better as you get closer to the end. Not sure if I want to try the next in the series

What a way to Start

This is a great story, As a father of two teenage boys I hope I have taught them enough to survive on their own if need be. The Story was great and easy to listen to and Defiantly worth continuing.

Great "read."

I was sceptical about it at first, being an outdoorsman and vet, but I am impressed. I will be buying more of this series.

Dog Lovers Zombie Apocalypse - Fabulous Story

I’m a huge fan of post apocalyptic books and I adore my big ole lovable dog. So this Audiobook was written just for me :)
The story is very engaging and the narrator is easy-going with a soft tone - I like that. It makes it easy to listen for hours at a time without becoming annoying. I really liked Dawson and of course Duke. James is a great first person character with tons of discovery ongoing throughout the story. I will definitely buy book 2.

Great listen

I really enjoyed this story line. The narrator seemed a little automated at times but it didn't keep me from the story. I look forward to hearing how James' journey progresses.

A zompoc expedition for a teen & his dog...

Dead State: Fallout (A Post Apocalyptic Survival Thriller, Book 1) by Derek Shupert and narrated by B. C. Archer is a good zompoc adventure for young adults.

What’s it about? James, his dog Duke, and his dad are on a routine hunting trip when the zombie apocalypse begins. Chasers (aka zombies) are all around. One thing leads to another and James and Duke try to make their way to his family. Along the way they meet some good and bad folks. The story is a bit slow going in the beginning- lots of hunting, life lessons, and setting of the story, but if you keep with it, it does pick up the pace about an hour in and turns out to be a good one. I’d like to see a more details and a little less dialogue in future installments, but that's my personal opinion, others might feel different.

The narrator, B. C. Archer, was good overall. I’d like to hear just a little more difference with the character voices in the future books. I’d listen to him again.

Overall I recommend. There is a lot of potential for this one, I’ll definitely check out the second book.

Parental guidance/trigger warnings: This is a story about the zombie apocalypse- violence, death, and similar subject matter occurs throughout the book. Hunting animals for food (including cutting and cooking), guns, bridge collapse. S-word x1.

*I won this in a contest, not sure if I need to write this, but here it is just in case ;)
