About this listen
Airport Ranger volunteer Stacy Broussard expected a peaceful Saturday morning ride around the perimeter of Houston's airport. What she encounters instead is a brutal homicide and a baffling mystery. Next to the body is an injured dog, the dead man's motorcycle, and a drone armed with a laser capable of taking down a 747.
Though FBI Special Agent Alex LeBlanc sees a clear-cut case of terrorism, his past has taught him to be suspicious of everyone, even witnesses. Even bleeding-heart veterinarians like Stacy. But when her gruesome discovery is only the first in a string of incidences that throw her life into a tailspin, Alex begins to wonder if Stacy was targeted. As a health emergency endangers Stacy's community, and the task force pulls in leads from all directions, Alex and Stacy must work together to prevent another deadly encounter.

He stopped, hovering above her lips, giving her the opportunity to back away...create space between them. Instead, she leaned into him, met his kiss. The moments evaporated as he held her, a touch as light as if she were a cherry blossom he could crush. Get caught up in romance and suspense with this novella from award-winning author Cara Putman. Things were business as usual for family law attorney Ciara Turner, until she walked into her mentor’s office to find the judge had been murdered.

Story
When truth doesn’t make sense, will lies prevail? Cathy Cramer is a former lawyer and investigative blogger who writes commentary on high-profile homicides. When she finds a threatening note warning her that she’s about to experience the same kind of judgment and speculation that she dishes out in her blog, Cathy writes it off as mischief...until her brother’s wife is murdered and all the “facts” point to him. The killer has staged the crime to make the truth too far-fetched to believe.

Story
Alan Gregory is a clinical psychologist with a thriving practice in Boulder, Colorado. His life begins to unravel when one of his female patients is found in an apparent suicide and the local paper begins printing accusations from an unnamed source of sexual impropriety between the woman and Dr. Gregory. He launches a psychological and personal quest for the truth that rapidly intensifies when more of his patients die untimely deaths, and Gregory suspects not only that the deaths are related but that another one of his patients may be somehow involved. Lacking facts but roused by suspicion and troubled by seemingly random acts of terror around him, Gregory starts to fear for the safety of the people he loves. The question of the inviolability of confidential disclosures made to Gregory by his patients - privileged information - becomes crucial as the psychologist pursues an unsettling romance with Lauren Crowder, a lovely deputy district attorney investigating one of the deaths. Bound to silence, Gregory follows the psychological tracks of someone he fears may be a cunning and disturbed killer, while turning to his enigmatic but supportive partner, Diane Estevez, for counsel, and to his tart-tongued female urologist neighbor for support. The sinister, surprising drama unfolds against Boulder's Rocky Mountain backdrop, in the arresting natural beauty of Aspen, and in the midst of a baroque Halloween costume party in downtown Boulder. Finally, in a lonely mountain lodge enshrouded in menace, the story comes to its breathtaking climax.

When she realizes her Abyssinian, Syrah, is missing, Jillian suspects catnapping. Spurred by Chablis and Merlot’s mournful meowing, she investigates - and discovers more missing cats and a murder.

Waited with bated breath!
This was a very well thought out and intricate plot. I kept getting more and more invested. Every time I thought I knew where it was headed, a curve ball was thrown in. The way that DiAnn covered each character and each new reveal was intense and made you feel deeply. The plot is intense and I believe rings truth about modern day terrorism and bio warfare. I kept thinking things would be resolved and then a new wrench was thrown in.
Well written and I believe I will be rereading/listening to this story. I added more of DiAnn’s books to my list about 1.5 hours into listening. She has a way of jumping between characters and linking the plot that draws you in.
The talk about Christ and God being the ultimate Father and never being too far away to talk to Him is a great reminder to come to Him every hour regardless of need.

Good with just a few issues
The plot was interesting and the characters were engaging for the most part. The biggest issue I had was with Whit. I liked Whit's character, but the author really needed to adjust his age. 12 was just too implausible for his character and the plot really didn't necessitate that he be that young.
Other then that one problem, the book was a great listen.

DEADLY ENCOUNTER
WAS A VERY GOOD BOOK TO LISTEN TOO. MARGUERITE GAVIN WAS EXCELLENT AS THE NARRATOR . I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. IT DESERVES 10 STARS!! I'M GOING TO CHECK AND SEE IF THERE IS A SEQUEL, BUT I DON'T THINK THERE IS.

Kind of slow plot
This book had a good wholesome feel, but a relatively slow plot and storyline. I like a bit more adventure or action...otherwise it drags a little.

Christian Content
I like that Ms. Mills doesn't belabor the story describing every rock, every tree limb, you get the idea. The story moves at a decent pace. I've listened to several of her books and it's safe to say I'm a fan now!

Incredible romantic suspense
This was an incredible romantic suspense, so much so that I had to stop listening several times just to get my breath back. I loved Witt what an incredible young man I would love to see how he turns out snd what he does. Alex and Stacy are a great couple and I can see what an awesome family they are going to be.
The narration was fantastic and really added to my enjoyment. I will be rereading this book again.
