Publisher's summary

Six months after her lover died in an arsonist's blaze, firefighter Lora Spade calls in the FBI's elite Serial Service Division to track the elusive killer. When Special Agent Kenton Lake is lured into a violent inferno, Lora pulls him to safety and is stunned---not by the fire, but by her own searing attraction to Kent. For the first time in months, she longs for something other than vengeance. Kenton's interest in Lora should be purely professional. But one fleeting kiss and he can't get her out of his mind. Her combination of strength and vulnerability makes him want to protect her, and that means solving this case---and fast. For even the passion igniting between them can't hide a terrifying truth: Lora is the next target in a murderer's sadistic, fiery game.

Excellent Story

The heat in this book is pretty intense both in the fires and with the characters. I really liked the way everything came together in this book. I was fascinated by the in depth point of view she gave of arsonists. The writer must have done a great deal of research about the pathology of arsonists because I learned a great deal from her book on the subject. Of course, I liked the main male character. I’d liked him from the first book, and he getting to know him better in this book was great. There were a few things I didn’t see coming, but I did figure out who the arsonists was this time. It wasn’t patently obvious, but the author gave the reader a lot of clues. What I really liked about it was that it wasn’t predictable. Like I said, there were a few things I didn’t see coming, and it wasn’t as easy to figure it all out as one would think, but I did figure it out.

The reader is the same reader of all the books in the trilogy, and I love her voice, her intonations, and the way she reads. She is a good reader, and if I can find something else I’d like to read that she animates with her voice, I’ll read it.

Overall, this was a good book. Like I said in my review for Deadly Fear, I think that the relationships move a little fast, but I dealt with it a little better with this book because I was expecting it.

Narrator distracting

Would you try another book from Cynthia Eden and/or Justine Eyre?

I like Cynthia Eden, but the narrator was not a good fit.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I didn't get pulled into the story because of the reader so I can't really say if the writing is good or bad.

Deadly Heat book 2

Another great and interesting book Cynthia away brings her A-game into her criminal series books. She know how to keep readers on reading. Without a doubt letting in on who the killer is until the very end. This time I thought it the police officer, but only to find out that it was one of the firefighter. But he also was using the police by getting the information he wanted or needed. Even not letting the police know what was going on with him. The end was fittings and Justice done to protect the couple from mad firefighters.

Liked when hero met brothers....it was funny

Any additional comments?
