"[B]reakneck pacing, good action scenes, and unexpectedly strong characterization, alien-invasion buffs should enjoy." ( Booklist)

bad narrator

great book, but the reader was awful, between mispronunciations and silly voice acting, it was a bit obnoxious

DeathDay/EarthRise

What made this series special to me was the fact that I live in the pacific NW, South sound area around McChord AFB. It was great being able to know landmarks that Bill was referring to. It gave me more excitement and feeling more involved in the story. The premise of our satellite probe, Voyager, pointing the way to earth was a little frightening. The characters were great, the story was great. The outcome of EarthRise was especially pleasing. One other thing though, the narrator probably should have done some additional research on how to pronounce some of the cities and locations. There are a number of towns and cities in this neck of the woods that have some very challenging names. Great job Bill.

EXCELLENT

A fantastic science fiction story that doesn't rely on fancy science fiction. Oh it's got the science, but it is got so much more in the characters and the storytelling.

Interesting book about the way humans act.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I thought the ending was both a heart jerker and cliff hanger

Do you think DeathDay needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

If the book had a follow-up I would listen.

Any additional comments?

There was little science in this book. The aliens were just a backdrop. The story was about how humans in general and American in particular act when the structure of our society is torn. In that aspect I think it did a very credible job.

concerned by low ratings.

Where does DeathDay rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is an original story. Has nothing to do with any other book or movie. The people who gave this book a low rating must not have actually read or listened to the book. I enjoy ed the exploration of race based descrimenation. And the coming together of all humanity in the end. I can't wait to listen to the next book. William C. Dietz does his normal excellent story telling in a believable very non utopian future. Being from the area where this story takes place he has studied the northwest well. All places and land marks are spot on. Sorry for the spelling. Some words I have to spell phoneticaly do to dyslexia.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Racist trash

Honestly anyone who likes this book needs to really do some self reflection. We all know there are racist people out there why go into so much hate detail if you’re not racist yourself author? And this is not a work of non fiction you do not have the privilege to use the n word it’s not even necessary for the plot. Audible should step up and remove this trash from their platform.
