About this listen

It's the mid-21st century. The oceans are rising, the world's population is growing, terrorist organizations are running rampant, and it has become readily apparent that humanity's destructive nature is at the heart of the matter. When all faith in humanity seems lost, a startling proposal is announced: Solomon Chavez, the mysterious son of the world's first trillionaire, announces that he, backed by a consortium of governments and wealthy donors, will build an interstellar starship - one that will convey a select group of 6,000 individuals, all under the age of 50, with no living relatives, to a recently discovered planet in the Epsilon Eridani star system. His goal is lofty: to build a colony that will ensure the survival of the human race. However, Solomon Chavez has a secret that he doesn't dare share with the rest of the world.

With the launch date rapidly approaching, great odds must be overcome so that the starship Solomon's Arrow can fulfill what the human race has dreamed of for millennia: reaching for the stars. The goal is noble, but looming on the horizon are threats nobody could have imagined - ones that may spell the end of all human life and end the universe as we know it. Filled with action, suspense, and characters that will live on in the imagination, Solomon's Arrow will leave listeners breathless while at the same time questioning what humanity's true goals should be: reaching for the stars or exploring the limits of the human mind?

Mystery planet, unknown intelligent entity, altered space probe, charismatic captain, population controlled. The aspects of this story are familiar but entertaining.

Like an episode of the original Star Trek show.

interesting plot twists, liked the first plot ending, the second more as much but fits the story.

it's a great story, tho a bit off putting how the view changes from one character to another without much warning

Took a while to get into the story. Not able to identify with a specific “hero” to keep you focused. Lots of twists to keep you guessing.

Dark but entertaining

Easy to follow story with memorable characters. There was also a couple of good twist in the plot and good science to the science fiction. So, I recommend that you do yourself a service and listen to this book.

awesome story!

I really loved this one but the very well written story seemed to get a bit choppy. Not sure if something was cut. Perhaps if I knew who the heck is Dr. Snow?

Mixed feelings

The ending on population control of the human race on earth ruined it. Very disappointing

Plot

The story was interesting with a long lead up and captivating twists and turns. The one glaring problem: Bram. There was no need to insert a magical unexplained demi-god human into this story. It felt like a plot device to wrap up the story without creating a consistent resolution or having to think very hard. The vague references to an omnipotent God in the void also felt like an afterthought to help wrap up the climax. Unlike some reviewers, I didn't mind the luddite anti-capitalist conclusion or the increasing religiosity of the characters throughout the story. I gave Solomon's Arrow 4 stars because it only suffered from the same problem as stories like 2001 A Space Odyssey and Interstellar: conclusions ruined by magic and discarding of everything that differentiates pure fantasy from scifi.

Good idea, but conclusion ruined by magic
