About this listen
The second serial killer in less than a year is prowling the streets of Miami, systematically killing off some of South Florida's most beautiful young women. Detective Al Warner is just back on the job, fully recovered from a bullet wound that cracked his skull during a deadly chance encounter with another madman. Due to rigorous physical therapy, Warner is in the best shape of his life, but his days are laced with headaches and his sleep fraught with terrifying dreams. Lack of rest clouds his usually laser-sharp mind, but doesn't slow his single-minded hunt for this new killer. Warner and the FBI's BAU become more frustrated as each new death provides plenty of evidence it's the same killer, but no new clues to his identity. They learn the killer's name, Angie Dedios, and eventually realizes it's really "Angel de Dios"...the Angel of God...but they are helpless as more beauties die with no new leads as to this deadly "angel's" real identity. Then Warner's love, Sharon Clark, becomes a target for this madman, and Warner must stop him before she is his eighth victim. Only chance again brings them all together in one final deadly dance of terror.

Would you try another book from George A. Bernstein and/or Nathan Weiland?
Yes. I liked the pace, storyline and narration. What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I thought the ending was a bit incomplete. Hence the 3 star review. Other than the ending I thought the book was really good. What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I thought the performance was done quite well. I liked the differentiation between characters and found the tone of book was set nicely due to the narrator.Do you think Death's Angel needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Yes. I would love to know more of what happened afterwards.Any additional comments?
I was gifted this book by the author/publishing company for an unbiased review. I enjoyed the book and think it would be worth the cost. Not bad at all
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
On the downside, I DID NOT like the narrator at all. His reading sounded more like a lecture than a story about a serial killer. The book would have been better week th a different reader/actor.
A PLOT THAT HELD MY INTEREST

Any additional comments?
I love mysteries. I live for mysteries. This listen ticked me off.The narrator was okay but he was not convincing as a tough-as-nails, seen-it-all cop who survived a serial killer.
Then there's the story. Are. You. Kidding. Me.
I stayed with this story for quite awhile because I couldn't figure out the whodunnit (the fun part of a mystery.) I kept thinking that the payoff would be a good one since the culprit had stayed hidden for so long. Then it went where it went and it ticked me off.
I didn't hate it. I just didn't like it. And we mystery lover's deserve better.
I finished it but just barely

I Haven't Read The Printed Version To Compare The Two...What was one of the most memorable moments of Death's Angel?
I'd Say The Ending..Very Suspenseful *no spolier alerts here*What does Nathan Weiland bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The Voice Of The Killer Was Spellbounding! And A little Scary Too...Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes...It Was Entertaining... It Was Interesting To Enter The Detective's Mind...Any additional comments?

If you could sum up Death's Angel in three words, what would they be?
Suspenseful Compelling SurprisingWhat did you like best about this story?
There are many different twists and turns. We are kept guessing throughout the world of Deaths Angel what and who is behind it all. What are the killer's motivations. Slowly discovering what has occurred with Al in the past. The riveting ending is not what I expected. What does Nathan Weiland bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Gritty narration and emotional story tellingWas this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
The book compels us to follow through and try to decipher what is happening as well as how will Al handle what is happening. He is tortured and driven and we slowly gain insight into how he got to this point and why he is so tortured and driven.Any additional comments?

Interesting Story

Well Great storytelling
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
First of all; this book could be listed under the category of "soft-core porn" if one existed. There are seven chapters/scenes dedicated to, and expressed in great detail, the sexual prowess of the killer ae the wanton lust of his victims, all of whom use their physical attributes to bed the killer. The language is that of which one would find in Penthouse Forum letters (i.e. think of George Carlin's "Seven Words You Can't Say on Television"); ironically Penthouse is the magazine several of the victims have (or desire to) pose in.
Secondly, realizing that serial killers do follow a pattern, it still became redundant to listen to the same general description seven times; 1. Man stocks woman in bars, topless clubs, markets, 2. Killer and victim mutually seduce each other, 3. Woman invites killer in her home and into her bed, 4. Killer strangles victim after "cu***ing", 5. Police have no clues, 6. Repeat the scenario several more times.
The back story and plot (aside from the killings) revolve around the nightmares of the lead detective (Warner) from his previous serial killer case, his defense lawyer girl friend (who wants to pose in Playboy), and the other cops vicariously living out their sexual fantasies by flipping through men's magazines at the precinct and comments in the t**s, a**, and p*****s of the dead girls. Shallow character development throughout the entire story.
I only finished this listen because this book was given to me for free by the author or narrator, at my request, and I agreed to provide this unbiased review.
Finally, the narration lacked in two prime areas; the first being that the sound quality is terrible (probably not the narrator's fault) as it sounds like it is being read in a barrel. As for the narrator, he makes an honest effort to read with inflection and enthusiasm but falls a bit short. His efforts to use different voices for different characters just doesn't work. Often times the same character would have a "different" in various sctionss of the book (a couple of times even changing "voice" in the middle of a single dialogue). Lastly, the attempts of the male narrator to come across as a slutty vixen seducing her lover, soon to be killer, just fail miserably.
Although I was able to piece together the clues and formed a real good idea as to who the killer was as the story unfolded in the second half of the book, I was completely caught off guard (surprised?) as to the actual conclusion of the mystery. Truth be told; it left me wondering if that was really the end of the story . . .
I apologize if this review comes across as overly critical, but I am just being honest, I could find little redeeming value in this book. Perhaps if some of the time used to describing the sexual scenes in such great detail, were used to develop the characters a bit more, the story would be more to my liking. As I stated at the beginning, I did finish the book, but only due to my commitment to review it.
The book was a gift from AudioBook Boom and . . .
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
Any additional comments?
"Death's Angel" opens with a character so flat she might as well be a walking paper cut out of a pair of tits. Women in this book are portrayed as sex starved nymphomaniacs who are lacking in critical thought, savvy or even any basic intelligence. They are only concerned about themselves and their career; they seek to use men only to get ahead. I noticed that no men were described in this book based solely on their looks. However, every single woman described - I know what her breasts look like! Why is knowing what a witnesses' breasts look like important information for the narrative? Oh wait, it's not. This book was written by man who thinks of little else, apparently. To be fair, however, the men in this book have little more going on than their own sexual obsessions, as well. I just don't even know what to make of this - the core mystery would have been half way decent if it didn't include so much sexual aggression at all times from all characters.
The narration did not save the book either - it wasn't horrible (definitely not stellar) and the quality of the recording was quite low. It was not a pleasure to listen to. I couldn't recommend this book (unless someone was looking for a bad soft core porn novel with sex craved cops as stars).
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
