About this listen

Putting the past behind him, Dalton Payne has returned home to Wylder. When a wash-woman accidentally dumps dirty water across his boots, he's intrigued by the amber-eyed beauty dressed in baggy clothing and a floppy hat. Before long, he can't keep the loud-mouthed tomboy out of his head. Falling for Leona is easy, but teaching her to be a lady may be the biggest gamble of his life.

Leona Fabray spends her days at the boiling pots in Wylder doing the town's wash. But when a famous gambler takes an interest in teaching her to act like a lady, she's sure she is being played a fool—until a single kiss from the handsome Dalton Payne sparks the possibility of forever.

Back to the Wylder West and what a story this is! Dalton Payne has come back to Wylder, retiring from his poker playing days to settle down and enjoy ranch life at his easy pace. When he comes upon Leona, he is smitten. It's not just because she dumped dirty wash water on his boots, but her beauty and quick wit has him thinking about her constantly. He has dreams, and now they are including this woman. He wants to give her all the things women love. But will she want to be with him? This romance is a bit of everything. It has courting and quiet moments together, but the excitement is the card game! It brings out everyone, all the danger that jealousy and greed brings, the romance of two soulmates and family as we find out just what that word really means. Kim Turner has come through with an amazing installment and it is one that should be added to your library.

To enhance this story, Dawson McBride comes through with a narration that only he can provide. There is something soothing about his voice, and I love to listen to his books. But this one has some rough characters that show his versatility and creates the true feel of The Wylder West.

Winner!! No folding with this hand!

This had more pure romance than other Kim Turner books. But the story was interesting and took a surprising turn. I kept wanting to know more so it was fun to read at every turn. And a happy ending is always a satisfied outcome!

I love Kim Turner books!

This book was so good! I think this is my fav out of the series so far. Kim Turner takes us on a wild ride through this book. Leona is a lot younger than “the gambler” Dalton but had a mouth and fist on her that make some men take off running lol. Dalton does his best to woo her and give her all the finest things. The awful incident Leona goes through in the beginning of the book is what makes these 2 get closer. The poker game at the end of the book has one heck of a wild twist that makes you grab your popcorn and hang in for the ride. Dawson is the perfect narrator for this series. He had that perfect gruff cowboy voice that makes you feel like you are on this wild ride with the characters. Well done!

Kim Turner is new to me. I own another audiobook by her and really enjoyed it. I looked her up and found this series. Although its written by different authors, I chose hers. I was not disappointed. Its a great story and good characters. I took off 1 star from the 'story' category because it has more detailed love scenes. Not really wanting to listen to that. But I'll look for more from this author and will recommend her to others. I love cowboy/historicals and she did this one well.

loved it.
