About this listen

S. M. Stirling presents his first novel of the Change, the start of the New York Times best-selling post-apocalyptic saga set in a world where all technology has been rendered useless.

The Change occurred when an electrical storm centered over the island of Nantucket produced a blinding white flash that rendered all electronic devices and fuels inoperable - and plunged the world into a dark age humanity was unprepared to face....

Michael Havel was flying over Idaho en route to the holiday home of his passengers when the plane’s engines inexplicably died, forcing a less than perfect landing in the wilderness. And as Michael leads his charges to safety, he begins to realize that the engine failure was not an isolated incident.

Juniper Mackenzie was singing and playing guitar in a pub when her small Oregon town was thrust into darkness. Now, taking refuge in her family’s cabin with her daughter and a growing circle of friends, Juniper is determined to create a farming community to benefit the survivors of this crisis.

But even as people band together to help one another, others are building armies for conquest....

Loved this the first time

I really loved this series when I read it the first time. It is worth listening to a second time. And this format was interesting to try out but (and a really big but), it is not worth spending 3 credits for this title when you can get the original with great narration by Todd mcLaren for only one. I have listened to all 3 of these and actually think I prefer the original.. I gave these top reviews but only cause I really love these books.

Love this mostly...

This book is wonderful, the acting is mostly great, the sounds fit perfectly but the voice actor for the main female character Juniper doesn't fit: she doesn't have an Irish accent and has a high-pitched immature sounding voice that doesn't represent the character well.

Where is the rest of the Book?

Where are parts 2 and 3? The first part was good-I had listened to the book before but wanted to try it with a full cast-- now I just need parts 2 and 3.

Do NOT buy this!!!

First off, I am a huge fan of this series. I have read the original three books so many times that they have fallen apart and I have had to buy new ones and listened to the audiobook more. So, when I saw that they had made a dramatization, I was super excited! I was wrong, so very wrong about this purchase! The accents are Terrible and the actors are worse. Buy the original audiobook! No really, skip this and buy the original, it is awesome.

Bad distracting sound effects.

The sound effects were so annoying and absurd that I could not listen for more than 10min
