About this listen

Eve Hardaway, newly single mother of one, is on a trip she’s long dreamed of - a rafting and hiking tour through the jungles and mountains of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico. Eve wanders off the trail, to a house in the distance with a menacing man in the yard beyond it, throwing machetes at a human-shaped target. Disturbed by the sight, Eve moves quickly and quietly back to her group, taking care to avoid being seen. As she creeps along, she finds a broken digital camera, marked with the name Teresa Hamilton. Later that night, in a rarely used tourist cabin, she finds a discarded prescription bottle - also with the name Teresa Hamilton. From the camera’s memory card, Eve discovers Teresa Hamilton took a photo of that same menacing looking man in the woods. Teresa Hamilton has since disappeared.

Now the man in the woods is after whoever was snooping around his house. With a violent past and deadly mission, he will do anything to avoid being discovered. A major storm wipes out the roads and all communication with the outside world. Now the tour group is trapped in the jungle with a dangerous predator with a secret to protect. With her only resource her determination to live, Eve must fight a dangerous foe and survive against incredible odds - if she's to make it back home alive.

Strong characters in a weak story

I have read a bunch of books by Mr. Hurwitz. What sets him apart for me is that creates and develops interesting characters. He reveals parts of their backstory as he progresses through the book. The same can not be said for his plots and storyline. This one is as predictable as a movie-of-the-week on Lifetime. I so want to love his books but I can say I love about half his books--this is not one of them.

WOW! Intense

What an incredible story I won’t soon forget and likely won’t bother ever vacationing in Mexico. A majority of the book is nail biting edge of your seat tension as the heroine attempts to allude “the bear”. I thought I was a diehard romance fan but these thrillers I’ve listened to lately are giving romance a run for my points.

Not my favorite

This was a 2 for 1 credit deal and I’m glad that this was my free choice. The characters were sometimes likable but mostly annoying. I have come to realize that I can handle Scott Brick only in small doses. Thankfully he had a smaller part in this book. Overall, I finished it because I drive a lot and it was something to listen to, but would not recommend.

Perfect story

I really enjoyed reading this book. Sometimes it was hard to imagine distances as sometime it would take hours and sometimes less to get to the same destination. Made me feel kind of lost.
Overall enjoyed it !

love this author, this is his only bad book

overall story is ok. the woman's strength and development is good. you like her you cheer for her. character development was decent but inconsistent. as a nurse even the most basic trained she would have been less afraid from the start. and the one thing that hurt to listen to was the interactions with our hero and her son. developmental stages were all over the place....kid was 5 to 14 based on his writing abilities and requested items.... worth 8$

I was going 90 MPH listening to this book

What did you love best about Don't Look Back?

The latter chapters were amazing.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It was slow going and took sometime to grow the story and characters but it was worth it. The half of the book were amazing!

What about Cassandra Campbell and Scott Brick ’s performance did you like?

Great performances!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I can still see her running through the forest, amazingly vivid descriptions and character growth.

Any additional comments?

Don't give up, give it a couple of hours to build and then wow you will be blown away.
