A yearning that won't be denied
Rachel Marek is a journalist with a plan. She intends to expose the truth about dragons to the world - and her target is within sight. Nothing matters but getting the truth, especially not the ruggedly handsome, roguishly thrilling Highlander who oozes danger and charm. And when she finds the truth that shatters her faith, she'll have to trust her heart to the very man who can crush it.
A legend in the flesh
Suave, dashing Asher is more than just a man. He's a Dragon King - a being who has roamed this planet since the beginning of time. With everything on the line, Asher must choose to trust an enemy in the form of an all too alluring woman whose tenacity and passion captivate him. Together, Asher and Rachel must fight for their lives - and their love - before an old enemy destroys them both.

Asher's story
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
Rachel Marek is an investigative journalist with a reputation for accuracy and integrity and she has been placed on the path to Dreagan, by one of their enemies. She captures the eye of Asher at the WWC, and finds more truth than she ever bargained for. The two have to fight each other, for each other, and last join together to fight a common foe.
As with all Donna Grant books in the Dark World series once you get in… it is hard to get out.
Journalism 101…. Don’t fall for a dragon.

For the first time, we have a women trying to find out the dirt on the Kings. She's trying to trick Asher. Good luck with that. But it creates a new dimension to their story. When will he find out? How far is she willing to go to get her story? And can Asher ever forgive her if she tells the world? It was a gem among a series I'm loving and devouring.
The dynamics between these two are fun. She's on the offensive and she's strong. He's trying to survive something he doesn't want to do. They're both brilliant but no one can deny the heat between them. So the last thing to figure out will be if she tells before or after she falls for him? Or is there more truth she needs to learn about these Kings?
It was a great little story that I really enjoyed.
Are you on this dragon bandwagon? You should be. It's a great series.

I love Donna Grant’s dragons. I read her 10th book, Firestorm, and they just keep getting better and better. And this one is no different. I loved Asher and Rachel. She was all set to get all the dirt on him that she could find and then splash it all over the newspaper, but once she heard his story she changed her tune.
Of course, Ulrik is being his usual A-hole self. I love that, too. LOL… And I loved Ms. Blossom Engel, too. She was Asher’s assistant and was very protective of him, as well as Con and Dreagan.
Rachel did have a TSTL moment when she got a not leading her to a bad part of Paris and a deserted warehouse. Thinking the message was from Asher she sent the taxi away and went into the warehouse alone. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I can see that happening in a book where the phone hadn’t been invented yet but in this case why doesn’t she just call him and say, “what the heck do you want me to meet you here for?” Yeah, that was stupid. But without that it was still a great short story. She was hurt a little before Asher saved her, and took her back to Dreagan to be his mate.
We did spend a few minutes with Con at the end, and all his worries. I always like to spend time with Con. However, there was no Rhi at all in this novella and I hated that. I love all the different stories about the Kings, the Light and Dark Fae and now the Reapers, but I always love, love, love to read about Rhi. So, I missed her in this story.
There was explicit sex in this and the F-bomb was used 7 times.
As to the narration: I keep complaining about Antony Ferguson but I give in and listen to him again and sometimes he’s better than other times. The women sounded ok but he just can’t seem to give the females an ounce of emotions, never laughs, yells, whispers, groans, nothing. And that’s a bummer. I guess I have to just learn to accept that, huh?
Great book, ok narration..
