About this listen

He is magnificently strong - and dangerously seductive. One of the fiercest of his clan, Lucan MacLeod is a legend among warriors, inspiring fear in man and woman alike. For 300 years, he has locked himself away from the world, hiding the vengeful god imprisoned in his soul. But then, a young lass caught in a raging storm awakens his deepest impulses...and darkest desires.

Cara doesn't believe the rumors about MacLeod castle - until the majestic Highland warrior appears like a fiery vision in the storm, pulling her into his powerful arms, and into his world of magic and Druids. An epic war between good and evil is brewing. And Lucan must battle his all-consuming attraction for Cara - or surrender to the flames of a reckless, impossible love that threatens to destroy them both.

A Great Highlander Series

A wonderful highlander romance! A beautiful story of three brothers lost to their Gods for centuries living in the pain and denial of their losses! Wonderfully written and Mr Ferguson narration is passionate and has that great Ireland brogue. I loved it!

A lot going on

This is an established series and I have heard many great things about it. I love getting recommendations from people and this is one of the.

Cara has secrets that she does not know she has. She thinks she is just an average mortal who is destined to take the oath to be a nun. Little does she know Faith has other plans for her. All she wants to do it help take care of the children at the same orphanage that she was sent to. She is looking for mushrooms when her necklace escapes her and she gives chase. Unfortunately for her she falls off a side of a mountain but Lucan is there is rescue her.

Lucan and his brothers have a 'God' in them. After an unfortunate event they have closed themselves off to the world. All they do is fight with one another, physically and verbally, and wallow in self pity. As the story progresses we start to learn why the brothers are the way they are.

The good thing about this book is there are a lot of details that we learn about not only the main characters, Cara and Lucan, but also about the secondary characters as well. I do not know if I am going to become a stan of this series but I can see myself listening to this in between books.

Good paranormal highland erotic story

The characters were very interesting and she described the castle & landscapes so well I could see it. It was a little hard for me to follow in the beginning but I’m not a spring chicken any longer 🤣. This series I believe was one of her first, I absolutely love her Dark Kings & Dragon Kings series. Can’t wait to hear the next in the series. Great job as always by Mr Ferguson with the narrative.

It dragged

I remember reading the actual book and enjoying it. It is not one of those books you want to read twice. Antony Ferguson i enjoy as a narrator, he did the best he could with this book. He sounded as bored as I was. The story fell short and I just can't place my finger on exactly why.
The HH and hh: There was not really any character development. Finding you have magic does not mean you grow as a character. Finding love does not mean you grow either. The other brothers had more growth than the main characters.
I will not be buying the remaining books as i have read them too and just don't trust them enough to spend money on.

The premise is promising but the intrigue and depth of the story itself is not met.

Great new and complicated series!

What does Antony Ferguson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Some people don't like him but I love him! I think he is great! When a book is from a male perspective I would rather listen to a guy trying to sound like a girl for the other parts than the other way around! I am always pleased when he is the narrator!

Entertaining but

Good story line and characters, but way too much sex. I did enjoy it enough that I plan to get book two.

ANOTHER WINNING PARANORMAL HIGHLAND SERIES STARTS

If you're like me and you like your Paranormal/Romances then you're going to love the tales of these three hunky immortal MacLeod brothers who are possessed by different beasts/Gods. As the story unfolds it tells of how, what when and why, along with that there's a great plot with various sub plots just waiting to be taken up. There's an evil Druid who's after the good Druid (Cara) but she is being protected and 'romanced' by Lucan, the middle brother, and magic and mayhem ensue.

There was an instant attraction between Lucan and Cara which was a bit sickly sweet and repetitive on how much he wants to touch her or kiss her or make love to her, but that can be overlooked by the great chemistry between the two of them coupled with the relationship the three brothers have for each other as they band together despite each of them having problems of their own.

The battle between good v evil brings out of hiding more and more of these possessed Highland Warriors so the series can go on and on and on and on...... which is music to my ears.

Worth a credit? Ticked all my boxes so that would be a YES, it was very enjoyable.

An Ordinary romance

Well, well, well. That is all I really have to say about this first book in the Dark Sword series. There is really nothing remarkable about this particular highland romance. It is a basic story with a touch of the paranormal but, other than that, it is a very basic romance. This has the making of a good series but, if you look at it, the story has been told many times over. Three brothers, who are very close, share an adventure and are obviously going to find love one by one as will their friends. There were almost no surprises and a great deal of syrupy sweet romantic moments between the main characters. The medieval highland theme provides a wonderful setting for romance but if you are looking for something with more depth you will probably be disappointed. For a trilogy with humor, lots of unexpected twists and turns, and still full of romance, you may want to take a look at the McCabe trilogy by Maya Banks. All three books are worth the credits or the cash price!
