About this listen

It's been four years since Gary Leger slew a dragon and returned home from Faerie, and almost half a year since his father died. Ever since that fateful day, he's been aching to take his wife, Diane, leave Earth behind, and go back to Faerie to see his friends and get away from it all.

His friends wish he'd come back, too - and fast. The threat of war looms over the land like a dark cloud. The king is brutally suppressing his subjects, acting more ruthless than ever before. And the most powerful witch in Faerie, banished to a remote island, isn't letting that stop her from sowing the seeds of destruction. Gary wants to escape responsibility in his own life. But Faerie's heroic dragonslayer once again has the fate of the world in his hands.

An excellent conclusion.

Four years have passed since Gary Leger made his last trip to Fairy and slew the mighty dragon Robert with the land's legendary, sentient magical spear. Now married to his longtime girlfriend Dianne, Gary is once again seeking to return to Fairy to escape the grief of losing his beloved father.
Back in Fairy, however, a matter of only a few months have passed and things are far from well. Thhe evil sorceress Ceredwin will soon be free of her exile and the land's wicked king is seeking to take credit for the defeat of Robert the Wretched. After hearing Gary'ss repeated calls, the Leprechaun Mickey McMickey finally brings Gary, accidentally accompanied now by Dianne, back to Fairy. Dianne's arrival, however, might just tip the scales in favor of those opposed to Ceredwin and the wicked king. THough initially skeptical, she quickly embraces the quest and accidentally makes a shocking discovery about the evil that has long held the land in its grip. Can the heroes find the missing puzzle piece and restore Fairy to its former glory?
This was probablyy the best of the trilogy, and once again narrator Paul Boehmer does a standup job of bringing it to life. It's easy to tell who's speaking and his characterizations are quite good.

Great finish!

Sometimes it's hard following the fight scenes and they seem to go on for a long time.

I really enjoyed having Tommy the giant back and so glad Diane got to go to Fairy.

Overall my most memorable line had the phrase, " Windows and orphans " in it!

Great Story!

Good ending for the trilogy

Good light "reading", enjoyable. Recommend to higher elementary grades, thru adult. Good character development and carry thru. Good story lines.

Fantasy Land Crossover

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The book is well written but is a bit of a crazy person's disillusionment becoming a justification for the average adult not having a lack of an imagination.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Let's leave it open for another book

What about Paul Boehmer’s performance did you like?

he has a love for his work and an excitement about reading the text

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Not my kind of movie

Okay but wouldn't pay for it

What did you like best about Dragonslayer's Return? What did you like least?

Like the premise.
Didn't like the narration as much. "Window and orphans" instead of widows and orphans. "Corpse of trees" instead of copse of trees. Even if it's a misspelling in the script, I would hope the narrator, editor or producer would catch that and do a retake.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Paul Boehmer?

Maybe. Just to see if the trend of mispronunciation continues.

Do you think Dragonslayer's Return needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I think it would be a better story by not returning. Otherwise Gary should just stay.

Great story through all 3 books

I was originally skeptical of this plot. I gave it shot because I had a free credit and figured it would kill some time on my drives to and and from work. The books play out like a table top game and I really enjoyed that. I thought this one in particular was a wonderful ending to the series. It had a great twist.

The performance of Paul Boehmer was also great. His ability to capture the voice and personalities of each character made it easy to fall into the book.

Modern age with a fairytale twist!!!

Not a bad book but I felt like I just wanted this book to end!! For some reason I just couldn't get going with this book. This book has a lot going on,I think I lost interest when Gary's wife starting taking pictures of dragons and Leprechauns and all the other stuff in a Fairytale land. Try it you might like it!! I did finish the book and I've read worst!!
