Publisher's summary

The moon peers out from behind the dark clouds, but deep within the swamp, even the tiniest sliver is like a beacon in the pitch black. The path is barely discernable, but she knows the way.

She steps up to the edge of the water and stares at the silver locket in her hand, a picture of two girls inside. One is her. The other…

Is waiting.

She begins to sing, and the winds pick up her tune. The water stirs, and from the center of the angry current, the young woman emerges. Her haunting voice carries over the water.

“Find me. I’m all alone.”

Jenny Taylor bolts up in bed, her screams echoing throughout her bedroom. She falls back on the pillow, sobbing. She knows what she has to do. The dreams are too intense. Too frequent.

It’s time to find Caitlyn.

INCREDIBLE story with TERRIBLE Narrator

What an INCREDIBLE story... the author has done it again! I laughed, I cried & enjoyed every word! Except for the HORRIBLE narration! I just don’t understand how the author, born & raised in LA, can turn her novels (really her babies) over to be completely butchered by the narrator. Anybody that thinks she does a good job isn’t from LA. Her pronunciation of New Orleans is bad enough but every time she said Leblanc, I felt like somebody was raking their fingernails across a blackboard! She pronounced Leblanc with a hard C & the C is supposed to be silent! I was ready to throw my device across the room! Mrs DeLeon... your Shaye Archer series is WAY too good to not have a narrator that’ll tell the stories as correctly & as richly as they deserve to be told!

Pronunciation is hard to listen to

The narrator’s pronunciation of some words is almost unbearable.
Mainly the city New Orleans.
I cringed every time.
Besides that, good narration.
Love the story and the series.

Exciting through and through

I must start by saying that I enjoy all of DeLeon's books, but this book is now at the top. It was suspenseful, had a great pace, and really unpredictable. Be sure ro read and ENJOY!

Great Series

I enjoy every one of the Jana DeLeon novels I read. She's a very talented author and her characters and story line are always engaging.

Loved It!

I love how this series keeps you on the edge of your seat. J would have liked to check in on some of the peripheral characters but loved the book overall.

Meh.

The story was pretty good. The narrator's pronunciation of New Orleans drove me bonkers and her "male" voice was awful.

Great story. Horrible narrator.

Every book review of mine in this series is the same. Great story, but horrible, horrible narrator. If it wasn’t for the fact that I enjoy the story, I would have discontinued listening. It is such a wonder that the author would use this narrator when she has such poor reviews.

As for the story, I loved it. We learn another piece of shaye’s past too. I look forward to the next book, not because of the narrator though.

Not the best book but still good...

This one wasn't my favorite of the six books more because it just wasn't as believable as the other books. I guess it seemed a little bit too outlandish, you know? I totally misses some of the secondary characters, Shaye's adoptive mum and her therapist, they are such hoots and didn't get much screen time! I'm still waiting on some movement between Shaye and Jackson..... come on you two! Get on the program!!

Again, the narrator Julie McKay is fab! McKay has a real way with telling a story that draws you right into the book. You feel the suspense, you are tied up in knots to solve the case right along with the characters. Great story!!

Omg new or-le-uns

Why does the narrator have to pronounce New Orleans this way. The other books she pronounces it correctly and then in this book she pronounces it new or-le-uns. Makes me cringe every time and I almost stopped listening. Please correct this in the other books.
