About this listen

Have others ever told you to "stop being so sensitive"? Have you ever looked at other people and wondered how they manage to get through the day without noticing the suffering going on all around them?

Do you feel so emotionally delicate in comparison to your peers that you have tried to block out what is going on around you? You may have even resorted to coping mechanisms such as overeating, overworking, or smoking as a means of managing your emotions.

Maybe you have tried to "grow a thicker skin", or attempted to cover up your feelings with humor? Perhaps you have always felt different to others since childhood, but could never quite put your finger on why.

If this description resonates with you, congratulations! You may well be an empath.

Unfortunately, an empath who lacks insight into their own nature is likely to be miserable.

Most of us are familiar with the concept of empathy. Aside from sociopaths, who are largely incapable of appreciating what another individual may be feeling, humans are generally able to understand what others are going through in most situations.

Empaths, however, constitute the small group of people who not only understand the emotions of others, but literally feel them too.

In short, an empath takes this common human ability of relating to other peoples' emotions to extremes.

If you have no idea why you are so readily affected by the emotions of others and the events around you, you will become psychologically unstable. You will be unsure as to where your true feelings end, and those of other people begin.

Hypersensitivity can be a burden if not properly managed, which is why it's so important that all Empaths learn to harness the special gift they have been given.

That's where this book comes in. Millions of other people around the world share your gifts and lead happy, fulfilling lives. It's time to learn how to put your rare gift to use, maximize your human potential, and thrive in life!

Very helpful

Thank you. This book was amazing. At 50 years old I have always known that I was different. Over the years I have been to numerous therapist], counselors, and various types of group therapy. I have been labeled with different mental health issues but unable to find any relief from conventional treatment. I recently had a new friend point out that I may be an empath. I initially dismissed this idea but for the last month or so it has hung in the back of my mind. I finally decided to research this idea and chose your book as a starting point. so many questions have been answered and for the first time in my life I feel I am on to something that makes sense. I would recommend this book to anyone. I believe this book is going to be the beginning of a new much more positive life for me. Thank you again so much.

Review of empathy book

Hi, I am an empath, yay I said it, I now know what it is thanks to your book. I always knew that I was different. I could not put my finger on why, because I was borne this way, I TOUGHT EVERYONE HAD THIS, BECAUSE I NEVER NEW, IT WAS A SPECIAL GIFT. BECAUSE IT IS MY NORMAL. I struggled with why arn't all people like this. I am in my 50's working as a nurse. All my colleges have mentioned, that I am different, in a good way, because even with non-verbale patients, I have a special talent in just, knowing what is ailing them, and somehow get right to the rout of the problem, which is usually an emotional one, to help them heal quicker. I have been drained, emotionally, and have "felt" my patients pain fiscally too from time to time. Through your book, I am learning to discern, between their "pain" and mine. I have incorporated your skills to take time to check in with myself regarding what is my stuff and what is residual, from others. I now have a basket of protection techniques I can use , that helps my energy level. This is so useful because, when I have more energy, I can be of more service to others and the world. As you already know as a highly sensitive person, this is a life mission and helps to enrich my days. thank you for writing this book and putting words to this "feeling" and helping many like me , by giving tools action and advice, that very much make a difference. P.S. I feel less abnormal now, that I know. there are others like me out there.

Really helpful alternative

Great book. I think this will really help my step son. Nice to see this is available. Sensitivity is always something that can be tough to bring up to or acknowledge especially for men and boys.

Very interesting

Whether you're an empath or you know one (and you probably do) this book contains useful and interesting information.

The book is well structured with the topics flowing in a logical order and the information building on previous chapters. Well written it is easy to understand and offers useful and practical techniques for utilizing empathy and for helping empaths you know to not be overwhelmed.

The narration is well done, a nice smooth and natural delivery.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Enlightening & Informative!

I’ve known since I was a little girl that my ability to empathize with others is extraordinarily rare. Until recently, I didn’t realize that there was a name for it. In fact, this year I’ve felt it has been more of a curse with the level of pain, suffering and turmoil in our Country. Once I learned of the term “Empaths” I sought out to find resources that were clear, concise and offered practical advice for managing the depth of my feeling. I’ve really struggled to separate my feelings from the unbearable pain others are suffering right now. This book made everything I’ve felt my whole life actually make sense. I understand now that my heart isn’t a neurotic possessed organ trying to take over my life and that Empaths have a gift. We just have to learn how to manage it appropriately. This is definitely a book I will reference frequently, as I continue to broaden my knowledge and toolkit on Empaths and the incredible power we have to connect to our fellow humans (and fur babies)!

Well written & enjoyable to listen to.

Very insightful look at the subject. This book has information like how to tell if your a empath. And what kind of people sensitives attract. You'll find plenty of helpful techniques for handling stress and anxiety with suggestions for situations a sensitive person should avoid. If you suspect that you are or may know someone who's empathic this book will explain a lot. The narrator spoke clearly and did a good job relating the information. I volunteered to listen to this book in exchange for a free copy. I recommend this book interested in this subject matter.
