About this listen

Sometimes magic can be complicated…

What happens when a beautiful and talented witch refuses to use her powers? Even as a child, Gillian could perform magic far better than most people. Her spells swayed teachers, nabbing boyfriends was a piece of cake, and she had the added ability to foresee events, good or bad. But, when one of her spells causes a near-death, and a future forecast completely rocks her entire world, she steps away from magic - until her friend’s murder slams her back into the game…and straight into a detective’s arms.

Delightful audio

I had read the book and was delighted when the audio became available. The narrator has an impressive actor's voice with an ability to change pitch and attitude with each character. Listening to the bird had me in stitches. I love to listen to a good audio book while I knit. Ms. Mallery's storyline was great as always and she has chosen well for her narrator. I highly recommend this audio.

Fabulous Fantasy

S. R. Mallery has written a tale about a witch, Gillian, who refused to use her powers until circumstances causes her to rethink her stand against the use of magic. I really enjoyed how the author crafted this story by weaving together a mystery, a part of history, danger, a touch of humor, and romance. I recommend this book to those who enjoy this genre. Robin Siegerman's narration was great and added entertainment to the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

intriguing Read!!

Endangered Spells is the first book in the A Gambit House Mystery.

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
If some of you have been following me for a while. Then you know that I looooove my books with the 3 D's (Dark. Dirty, and plain right Disturbed). It's on rare occasion where I find a book, doesn't meet this specific criteria. A pallette cleanser if you wish to call it. This that book! You have that whole "who dunnit" murder mystery feel. Add in a little sweet, closed door romance with magic and intrigue and very unique characters. Even a pet cockatoo named Jocelyn. Our main FMC, Jillian was so adorable. Even though she used 40s phrases quite often, I really felt her compassion and love for others. It was still very good and very well written.

Narration: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Robin Siegerman did such an absolute, fantastic job. She made each character their own, especially that she really made Jocelyn seem so real, is complete bonus points. I enjoyed the book so much more!

Intrigue, witchcraft, romance

Gillian is a young, contemporary witch, who is reluctant to use her powers. Her friend goes missing and the police aren't doing much so she's trying to help in the investigation. Plus she starts to find out some family history that she hadn't known. She becomes interested in a police detective, so this book has intrigue, witchcraft and romance. There's also a bit of history with a link back to the Salem Witch Trials. It's a fun book that many people will get a kick out of.

I listened to the Audio book and I think the narrator did a great job.

I received a free copy of the audio version. This is my honest review.

3.5 stars

This was a fun mystery. It was hard for me to get into at first due to the timeline not really being present and the ages of the characters not being there. I love how fast-paced this story was. The h has a pet Cockatoo, her name is Joselyn, and she's a hoot! She helps her towards the end and that is very cool. The narrator did a great job.
