About this listen

From New York Times bestselling author Catherine Coulter comes the heart-stopping twenty-first installment in the electrifying FBI Thriller series.

After Agent Dillon Savich stops a crazy man from harming a pregnant woman, the man unexpectedly falls into a coma. Doctors discover a drug in his blood they can't identify, and his only identification is a yellow wristband marked E 2. Did this John Doe escape from a mental hospital? And why was he at the pregnant woman's house? When her newborn baby is kidnapped from the hospital, Savich realizes there's a connection between the kidnapping and the unconscious John Doe. DNA tests uncover a startling fact: his cells are unlike any other—he's an Enigma.

Savich, Sherlock, and an FBI team of experts must find the kidnapped baby, uncover the link, and determine what bizarre drug was used on John Doe and, most importantly, why.

Meanwhile, Liam Hennessey, aka Manta Ray, a convicted bank robber, escapes from the Federal Marshals on his transport to a federal penitentiary. He and his "handlers" are seen going into the Daniel Boone National Forest. Savich sends Agents Cam Wittier and Jack Cabot after them.

Why break out this violent criminal? Or did the safe deposit box he stole and hid before he was captured contain something critically dangerous to somone? Wittier and Cabot are in hot pursuit. What they discover turns the case sideways.

Coulter's dual-plot thriller will keep you guessing as Savich, Sherlock, Cabot, and Wittier uncover surprise after surprise in this race against the clock until the shocking conclusions.

Best in Series in A Long Time

I felt this was the best novel in the series in a long time. Years ago, I fell in love with the characters Sherlock and Savage. And it now seems that they are back. There was no magic, hocus-pocus or anything like that. It was just a good mystery and good relationship book. I really enjoyed the book. Often when I’m listening to a book that has a bunch of goofiness in it, I sit and mimic the narrator by going blah blah blah. I didn’t do that this book. I just enjoyed it and am ready for the next one.

Great Story

Story moves quickly from character to character so be able to focus as you listen. A lot of players that can be a little hard to keep up with if you can't pay attention. You'll enjoy it!

Switch-backs galore - I believe that Ms. Coulter gets better all the time.

I really enjoyed this one!! Quite a story and Sherlock & Savage have matured with age & marriage- trusting and appreciating each other’s gifts as they work out very tangled situations. Quite a good story. The performance by the readers was also excellent. One not to miss-the time flies by!’

Magnificent FBI Thriiler

I love Catherine Coulter as an author. she has an amazing talent in writing captivating thrillers. I love everything of hers that I've been able to read or, in this case, heard. Her stories grab my imagination from the very beginning, including this one. The plot is well presented always with surprises along the way. I can't wait to see the next FBI thriller come to me.

Suspense and educational

Catherine is the queen of suspense and at the same time introduces current issues; and in this case the “fountain of youth”. She also looks into the foibles of pharmaceutical companies and how much of their experiments lead many astray. Hooray for Catherine Coulter!

scary good

once again the FBI will succeed. the story lines are well developed and although they seem to be separate threads, weave together beautifully. the ending seemed a little rushed. would have preferred a little more insight at the end.

Not as good as other Catherine Colter books....

The story line was a bit jumpy and harder to follow. It took a while to realize there were actually 2 stories emerging. Not enough of an examination of the doctor who created the enigmas...fell flat. OK, but not as good as other books by this author.
