About this listen

A human who opened the wrong magical book, her stern boss, and his “friend” who says he can help….

I’ve been cursed. Not metaphorically. Not, “Oh no! I spilled my coffee!” or “I broke a heel!”

No.

I’ve been cursed by a book and now I’m a danger to everyone I care about.

After finding out that the things that go bump in the night are real a few weeks ago, this is doing nothing for my peace of mind.

Pair it all with the fact that the boss I can hardly speak to seems to be the only one with any answers and the tension between him and the seductive expert he’s brought in…

The outlook for this group project is alarming…but my body is acting like it knows things my mind won’t yet accept.

Entranced by the Basilisks is a standalone monster romance in the same world as Stalked by the Kraken, but best read after Deceived by the Gargoyles. This book has two love interests who are also in a relationship with each other. There will be no choosing between the love interests.

Content Warning: This book includes descriptions of anxiety, snakes, deceptions and manipulations perpetrated by the love interest, and highly inaccurate snake anatomy.

Love this series!!!

it is awesome to find a romance series as diverse in emotions as these books have been. This book was just as hot 🔥 🔥🔥 as the 2nd book( which is my favorite in this series ) and am waiting for the 3rd to be released on Audible. Here's to hoping there will be a fith to heat me up and wreck yet more of my 🩲

Came for the Sequel, stayed for the narrators

I have listened to Gargoyles probably 60 times in the past year. Unfortunately I am not sure that I will do the same with this one, I wished there was a more definitive conflict that was a bit more suspenseful but all in all I loved the spicy scenes and the narrators were chefs kiss!

Medusa syndrome!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 🙂🥰😎😄
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Emilia - she works in book restoration, and she opened a magical book that cursed her. Her friend Grace knew right away that Emilia was cursed and brought her to a paranormal matchmaker to help her. Emilia was abducted a few weeks ago and was rescued by gargoyles. That is when she found out that the world wasn’t quite what she thought it was. Her curse is dangerous to her and everyone around her, especially her loved ones. The curse turned her into a Medusa, though she doesn’t know for sure if looking into someone’s eyes will turn them to stone. Though she does need a glamour to make her look human again.

The Heroes: Ari and Jasper - They are both basilisk shifters. Jasper is the director of the library and does his best to fundraise for the upkeep of the building, to keep the walls from falling in. The library has a huge paranormal collection, and they have to spend money to keep it intact. Jasper and Ari have been having a casual relationship for 7 years. Ari has wanted to get serious, and mate, but Jasper can’t because of his reviled family name. Ari deals in trading of rare items, he is successful due to the contacts he has made over decades, and Jasper thinks mating with him will ruin Ari’s business. Ari has already lost his family, and Jasper doesn’t want him to lose anything more.

The Story: Emilia is told that to break the curse she needs to find her mate or find pleasure on a serpent’s tongue. But she is shy and hasn’t really been in to casual sex, so she doesn’t really know if the matchmaker will be able to help her. However, she figures if doing the dirty with a serpent monster will turn the snakes on her head back into hair, it is worth a try. It turns out that her savior is much closer than expected, her boss Jasper and his friend Ari are the ones who can help her with her curse.

The story had some depth to it with the issues in the relationship between Ari and Jasper, and the addition of Emilia into their lives. Plus, it turns out that she wasn’t cursed, she was given a gift from the gods. Of course, she doesn’t see it as a gift, especially after she turns a coworker to stone. I did like the story quite a bit and I loved that Emilia becomes stronger and comes to love the serpents. I also quite liked both Ari and Jasper. You had to feel for Jasper because he was dealt a bad hand with so many of his kind hating him for something his ancestors did. Ari liked to be the dominant in more ways than one, taking control of what he wanted from the start.

This audiobook was done in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Valentina Ortiz and Matthew Thomasin. Valentina has a clear voice, that is very pleasant and expressive, though not one of my favorites. Matthew has a nice deep voice and and is able to use different voice tones for different characters so you can tell between the two main male characters.

Absolutely perfect

I listen to a lot of smut, particularly monster romance, and I gotta say this one is my favorite. The characters are so loveable and the scenes don’t feel forced and are always 🥵. 20/10 it’s making me with i knew a few people with fangs and tails 😅 the plot is also super solid. If you took out the spice it would still be a mad decent (though very short) book.

LOVED THIS SO MUCH!!

I love paranormal romance! This one definitely didn't disappoint for me! Not usually one to enjoy books with some same sex action but this book didn't have the same effect as some others in that area. It's a beautiful why choose romance and it displays the anxieties of loving someone and letting them love you in return. It shows acceptance of self insecurities. I can't say enough about this book ❤

I saw some of myself in the FL

I am so glad that the female narrator was able to pronounce the Spanish words! It grates on me when a narrator who is voicing a latin÷e character butchers the Spanish. The male narrator was great too.
In general, I really appreciated the FL's character. The author did a great job of fleshing out her personality and it didn't feel like token representation. the story was really good overall. There was lots of fluff and lots of spice. It's not the most action packed story but there was enough to keep the plot interesting. A word of warning: the spice gets little strange so if your looking for only human anatomy, you might not love some of the spicy scenes.
