Publisher's summary

Over the centuries, anything Ronan once found pleasure in has faded away to be replaced with blood, death, and the ever-constant battle not to give in to the more savage side of his vampire nature. Every time he wakes, he questions if that day will be the one he succumbs to the beckoning darkness.

As a born hunter, Kadence has been sheltered from the world for her entire life, never allowed to step beyond the walls of her home. It's not a life she's happy with, but it's one she's come to accept. Everything changes the day her father is slaughtered by a vampire and she escapes the walls that have kept her caged.

After she's attacked by the monster responsible for killing her father, Kadence is unsure how to react when she's rescued by Ronan. Though raised to hate vampires, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to Ronan as she slowly begins to realize that everything she's been taught over the years may not be true. Now, she must decide what she wants more; Ronan, her family, or the elusive freedom she's finally found.

Contains mature themes.

I love Brenda K. Davies she is an amazing writer and has done it again. Ronan and Kadence are opposites attract and you will love their story can’t wait for more.

While I liked the story

I can’t say the same about the narrator. Normally, I’m not super picky about the narrators voice and inflection but this time ... I can say it was too robotic and detracted from the story enough to lessen my overall experience.

#TeamKaydence

4.5*s

Ronan and Kaydence are a dynamic duo. Whoa doggies. I liked her from word one. Ronan, who I met in the vampire Awakening Series, is a lot to take on. He’s a purebred vampire, who is very old and the strongest of them all. Add to that his bad temper and home fry has a lot to keep control of.

Putting Ronan in the spot to find his ‘one’, not only putting her in danger but having her in a place she has no business being, trying to play with the boys, well it’s sets the pace for the entire book.

It’s a crazy, up and down road that puts Kaydence and Ronan in a tail spin of awesomeness. Haha. They’re both stubborn, set in their ways and determined to take on the vampire responsible for killing not only Kaydence’s father but a lot of other vampires and humans alike. It’s time to get this monster caught.

I think this pairing is going to be something to keep an eye on. I love them!

Great story but weird voice

I absolutely loved this story, and I will be reading the rest of the series! But I am so sad that the MC Ronan did not get the amazing voice he deserves. While the narrator has an amazing woman voice, her male voice was extremely dull and boring, despite the amazing story. Such a shame.

I havent finished the book yet

I havent finished listening to the book yet but the narration is great and this author is one of my favorites she writes under another name as well called Erica Stevens which is a pen name she has and I absolutely love her captive series written as Erica Steven's and it's a Fantastic series so if that is anything to go by this should be worth a try. I have only heard good things about this series this far as she just released book 2 on audible as well this month!:)

Love the story so far

I love the story, but the readers voice as Ronan sounds very clipped at times- no emotion really, almost like a robot.
But overall I enjoyed the book

Wow!!

This book starts out fast paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Its about a women who is very sheltered in the way of the world and a very old, but still smoking hawt, vampire. Fate throws the hunter and the hunted together in this page turner of a paranormal romance. I can't wait to continue the series.

Good spinoff series!

Love the original series and so far a fan of this spinoff series. Not a fan of the narrator. She made it a rough listen. I really missed Tavia Gilbert.
