Publisher's summary

All it takes is one shocking revelation on a New York street for a woman to unlock the secrets and lies of her past in a twisty short story by the bestselling author of The Last Mrs. Parrish.

It’s been ten years since Jade lost her father in a tragic accident, and the lingering guilt and grief have dragged her down to rock bottom. Then one night, she’s out at a restaurant and sees the impossible through the window: her father, alive. By the time she reaches the crowded sidewalk, he has disappeared. After so much despair, Jade isn’t going to lose him again—no matter what sinister truths may come from following him.

Liv Constantine’s Everywhere You Look is part of Never Tell, a heart-pounding collection of stories about secrets, lies, and mind games. They can be read or listened to in one sitting. Just keep the endings to yourself.

That was great!

Short story to pass a lunch hour and little more. It was packed with secrets and intrigue. I have to say I enjoyed the way this story turned out. It had an engaging storyline and and a great narrator.

Minor spoilers

Minor spoilers below:

I tagged this as spoiler to explain why I didn’t

Rating this short story is difficult for me. I enjoy everything Liv Constantine (or as I say The Constantine Sisters) writes and I enjoyed listening to the audiobook.

At times I found myself talking back to the narrator. As a graduate of Law&Order law school with a PhD in SVU, even I know that kidnapping has a statute of limitations. Granted, this fact would negate the whole story, but I bet most thriller readers know this too. One of the three characters who knew the backstory had to have watched the shows. Also lawyers have confidentiality, even if their clients admit to crimes. The individual could have easily sought legal advice any way along the way.

The lack of legal research is the reason for four not five stars.

Not even

As I understand it, Liv Constantine is a pen name combined by two sisters. it appears only one of them wrote this. it's sorely lacking the other one.

Wandered

Well read. Improbable story within plus story within…almost too much. Still, kept my interest to the end.

Everywhere You Look. Story was great. Plot very interesting but kind of sad at the end finding out the truth.

The overall story line was interesting and sad for the lead character. Maybe all will go well for their futures.
The narrator sounded like a little girl. She would be great for children’s books/audios.

Pretty good short

I liked this mystery short story. The part that bothered me most was that it kept going back and forth in time. I started to lose track of when it was happening.

decent not great

This is a short book. Less than 50 pages. About an hour in audio. The first few pages are past leading up to why she has come to the restaurant to say goodbye. She caught her boyfriend cheating on her. He kicked her out of the house. She is lonely and depressed. Her dad was her everything. Her boyfriend had kept her going. It's a lot of background and character building for such a short story, but it worked amazingly.

The twist is incredible but far-fetched. It was mildly predictable. It's worth the read because it's short, but if it had been stretched out with the same ending, I probably would have passed.

Well written, quick read. A good jump start when you're in a slump.

Cute, feel-good story

A cancer survivor, Jade lost her father shortly after her 18th birthday and her life has short circuited ever since. She is in a relationship with an older man, who doesn’t treat her right…then dumps her. A brief spiral into depression thinking that she is responsible for the death of both parents. Then she spots a man who looks like her father! Jade begins to investigate her past and uncovers shocking information. Alls well that ends well.
