About this listen

Riley Cooper is offered the chance of a lifetime: to find the Crux Fidelis, the coronation cross of Charlemagne. Under Water Sea Adventures members believe they have found the remains of the Indigo, a heavily laden cargo ship commissioned by Charlemagne and presumed lost on its maiden voyage off the coast of Southern Italy in the early 800s. If Riley can find the cross, it will prove Charlemagne's coronation as the First Holy Roman Emperor by Pope Leo III on Christmas Day had not been a spontaneous act but rather a desperate political maneuver by a pope in need of protection. When Riley joins UWSA off the coast of Sorrento, Italy, tensions and tempers fly as a competing team arrives in search of the treasure, and an approaching hurricane gains strength and heads straight toward the dive site. And when one of the crew is murdered, Riley must find the strength to fight back and keep the treasure out of the other team's hands.

Spectacular Debut Novel

Where does Expedition Indigo rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The best

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lucianna was my favorite character. She had a great character arc and characterization. She stood out as demure and thoughtful.

What does Kristin Kalbli bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Kristin magnified things by 1000. She made everything come alive. She was awesome!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the chase scenes, the dive scenes...it was just a well-rounded book.

Any additional comments?

Expedition Indigo is an amalgamation of suspense, excitement, and romance...all of the ingredients for a stellar story. Riley Cooper, the main character, is an in-depth, three-dimensional character full of emotion, trepidation, and morals. Unfortunate circumstances push her into an uncomfortable situation that removes her from her 'normal' life and thrusts her on a ship in the middle of the Mediterranean where she faces danger and mayhem. Allen's cadence is steady and rhythmic, her characters are colorful and round, and the storyline is exciting and interesting. I am eagerly awaiting book 2!

Wonderful Debut

If you could sum up Expedition Indigo in three words, what would they be?

Splendid Narration & Story

Any additional comments?

This was a superb first in the series. The opening with the shipwreck absolutely hooked me from the start. It set a wonderful tone and mood that carried throughout the story. It's easy to get super cheesy in this genre, but Allen avoided nearly all the cliches. The narration by Kalbli was also spot on. Here voices sounded authentic, her diction was great, and she enunciated perfectly. I'll be on the look out for more narrated titles by Kalbli and looking forward to the next in the series (hopefully by the same narrator).

Stellar performance of thrilling book!

Despite having read Stacy Allen's riveting debut novel prior to listening to it, I found the story just as compelling when listening to the wonderful reading by Kristin Kalbli. Kristin's expert reading brought these memorable characters to life. I listened to the entire book within 24 hours! I cannot recommend this book highly enough, and definitely will return to listen again.

can't wait to read next chapter in Riley Cooper's adventures. I was captivated from beginning to final word. not the genre I usually read but I was incredibly emersed in the story. I wish I could see some of the sights that were described in this book and the joy of diving in the medateranian. this book is more then worth the read. it's amazing and captivating. can't wait to read more from Stacey Allen. loved it.

Expedition Indigo

Riley Cooper is selected to be part of a dive for the Crux Fidelis,a truely amazing adventure for an archeologist. She and her team mates encounter spies, looting, bullets and kidnapping. They also find cool stuff.Although I found Riley to be a bit sanctimonious at times,I did like her.Kristin Kalbli does a nice job with narration.I was gifted this book for an honest review.

Kristin convincingly became each of the characters - it was easy to follow characters and their personalities came through perfectly.
