Publisher's summary

Well-known around the world for his passionate and powerful preaching, John Piper has distilled over 30 years of preaching experience into one book for the benefit of pastors and other Bible teachers. Building on the foundation laid by his previous two books, A Peculiar Glory and Reading the Bible Supernaturally, Piper makes a compelling claim about the purpose of a sermon: not just an explanation of the text, but awakening worship by being worship.

Christian preaching is a God-appointed means of transforming its hearers in both head and heart, not only in intellect but also in affections. With clear examples of specific methods, Piper shows preachers how and what to communicate from the pulpit in a way that takes seriously the task of handling the word of God week in and week out in the context of, and as, Christian worship.

Terrific!

The exposition on how to look at the text from the prisms of glorifying God through scripture. Excellent way on the how to approach Bible text. I recommend this book for anyone that is trying to excel at delivering the word of God. Two Thumbs Up!

Dense but good

This book not only talks about expository preaching but also gives real world examples of how to breakdown a text for different purposes. Very helpful but not a light read!

Should be a must read for Christians in general

Should be a must read for Christians in general. If you ever thought sermons were boring (I did not) this will change the way you view them. Not just songs are worship but even more so is the miracle of preaching. We are truly blessed that God gives us pastors and preacher who bring the living word of God to us that we might respond to it for God's praise and glory. Will read again.

True Preaching Proclaimed for the Glory of God!

I have only been in fulltime ministry for a couple years now and have been studying and interning to become a replant pastor. As a result I have read several books on preaching.
This book however by Mr. Piper is almost on a class of its own. I would consider it an instant classic and an absolute must read for anyone considering a call to ministry. I plan on it being one of the texts I have any and all Elder candidates read during their time of training and testing.
thank you pastor John for serving the Lord, his Church, and those of us seeking to serve as well so faithfully and biblically for All these years.

I'm so glad for this book! A great resource

Expository exultation is an excellent resource for anyone wanting to improve their preaching of the Bible. The copious reference to scripture made it wonderful during my runs. The repetition of themes made retention easy.

Worth every second

Preaching is about God. If we want to have disciples of Jesus fulfilling their mission we are to faithfully proclaim the word of God. This book will certainly put your heart in the right place as you learn to Exult His majesty through the deposition of the Word.
