I love adaptations of old classics, especially in the horror genre. I also generally choose (or don’t choose) audiobooks based upon the narrator’s voice. Even though this was not a full-cast audiobook, the narrator did and excellent job of not being annoying while emulating men and children. I will absolutely seek more of her work.

The story was interested and moved along quickly. Without spoiling anything, I will say that I was a little surprised by the “ending” in that I was expecting the protagonist to be rewarded with a happy one. It didn’t seem to be the case at first, but it resolves well in the end, in a unique way that made me both happy for Agnes, and also smiling over how sinister it all was. Excellent “read”/listen.
