Amazing display of faith! Very encouraging and great advice. Brother MacMillan... had been through many things and seen many changes and he held faithful no matter what....

Amazing!

I have read this book numerous times, mostly at night and it relaxes me to sleep. Even though I’ve heard it several times, I always learn something new about Mr. McMillan’s faith.
The book has background audible that obscures the message, however; I will keep the book in my library because I feel peaceful and it removes the stresses and tensions of the day. I give this book an excellent review! Mrs. Ramirez

Priceless review of JW organization’s history.

All my life I've heard of this book. As one of jehovah's Witnesses I was actually blown away that this was even on audible
I played a portion before purchase, and realized that the reader and audio production was going to be tough to listen to. I wanted the info, so I knew I was going to have to focus on that
The reader doesn't understand punctuation, the book is one long run on sentence. They put background music to it that is horrible, even creepy. Anyone in the theocratic ministry school would have done better, even the 8 year olds. Purchase it anyway
Going to try to see how I can get audible let us re-record Ithaca

Great information, terrible production

A history on a misunderstood religious group Jehovahs's Witnesses. Well worth the time spent. It is well read. Several things have been adjusted for further enlightenment of the scriptures.

Wonderful

My grandfather served at Bethel in the 50’s & ate everyday with Brother Macmillan. We are now rereading this gem together. I Recommend this book for all our brothers & sisters to read. An excellent example of living faith in our modern age.

A Wonderful Book By Our Faithful Brother

It was hard at first to get into the book because of the background music and sound affects. If you can block them out, and focus on the story, the characters and events in the book comes to life. So much i didn't know about Jehovah's witnesses. I recommend this book to others.

Great history

I really enjoy what I've read in the printed book, thus far. My problem is making the time to sit quietly & curl up with the PDF or the physical book. So when I saw Audible had the audiobook, I was most excited...and then disappointed.

While it's true that I don't care for the constant "elevator" music playing in the background, the real deal breaker is the narrator's style of reading. His voice isn't bad, but the style is somewhat unnatural & robotic. I barely made it through the Introduction & the first page of Part One which I had already read in the printed copy. Had to return it.

This audio ruins the book

What an amazing account and so faith strengthening. I could listen to this over and over and I probably will.

Must listen . . . .

I spend a lot of time driving and wanted to listen to this book because I have read it myself a couple of times and enjoy it. Although it is not written, published or produced by Jehovah’s Witnesses, it is a faithful history of the early days of the organization. It is well written and, although less than modern English is often employed, it is very easy to read. That is why I’m very disappointed in the performance of the narrator. The flow of the narration is stilted and mechanical, words are mispronounced and the reading meanders from what is actually written, which can change the overall meaning of what is read from what was written. In the end, I highly recommend the book... the book, not the audiobook. Get it and read it for yourself, you’ll enjoy it much more.

Disappointed in the reading

One of my favorite books. A history of faith and struggle in the most precarious of times. A humble group that overcame vicious persecution and obstacles to please God and worship him in spirit and truth.

Inspiring and Faith Strengthening!
