About this listen
"During the last 20 years, seven books of mine have been published as historical novels which to me are biographies of previous lives I have known. Far Memory is the autobiography of my first 30 years in the 20th century. From early childhood, often to my extreme discomfort, I was sometimes aware beyond the usual range of the five senses. I tried to ignore the implications of this awareness, but it was too insistent; so in an attempt to understand what was happening I laboriously trained the faculty of far memory. This book describes, among other things, how I did so and what happened to me as the result." (Joan Grant, author of Far Memory)

In Winged Pharaoh, Joan Grant tells the story of Sekeeta, the pharaoh's daughter. The ancient Egyptians reserved the title of Winged Pharaoh for ruler priests who possessed extrasensory powers. When Sekeeta demonstrates psychic abilities, she is sent to the temple and trained to recall past lives. Upon the death of her father, she becomes a Winged Pharaoh - both priestess and pharaoh - and leads her country with enlightenment.

Story
Form-defining short stories. First published in 1914, James Joyce defined what the short story could be with his collection The Dubliners. A mixture of prose and poetry, each story can be listened to independently, or as a collection. From childhood to maturity, we see what life - and ultimately death - can be, via an extraordinary cast of characters, all of whom experience an epiphany. There’s Father Flynn, the priest; Evelyn, the shop girl who dreams of escape; Mrs Mooney, the butcher’s daughter, who runs a boarding house.

Easy listening
Joan Grant is entertaining in her world view of her time and she does to be able to get into the past .
Her dependence on God is refreshing.
If she can see into past lives, I like the way she described the lives as “separate beads on a string”
The reader is good and can alter her voice to bring in other characters. However she can suddenly change her normal tone so that I think it is another person

An excellent book on many levels
The premise intrigued me and I took a chance. I’m so glad I did. This is a remarkable book. It is written with depth of perspective and fantastic literary skill. This author had an interesting life and she was gifted well to share it. That she knew HG Wells (who encouraged her to write) and the immortal Arabian Horse breeder Lady Wentworth) were just two interesting journeys I took with her while reading. And then, there’s the fact that she was conscious of the ethereal world. Wow! I’m so glad I found this book. The narration is excellent. Now I want to read her “fiction.” For anyone who loves to get lost in wonder, I highly recommend this title. -KWC

I had no idea about this author..!!
This was an excellent excellent book! I’m so glad that I discovered the author, Joan Grant. this book has been extremely eye-opening because of my own spiritual awakening and that of so many others at this time. I would encourage anybody to read this because it is well written with lots of great details and the performance is wonderful! Great insight into a time in the early 20th century that marked the change that would lead to a greater spiritual awakening as we are having today.
