About this listen

Colorado caterer Goldy Schulz encounters bridezilla and murder in another delectable novel by the New York Times best-selling author of Sweet Revenge, Dark Tort, and Double Shot.

It's been a long, rainy summer for Goldy Schulz, who is engaged in planning wedding receptions for what seems to be all of Aspen Meadow. It's bad enough that Billie Attenborough, the bride from hell, wants to move the location to the Gold Gulch Spa just a scant two days before tying the knot to her doctor fiance. Then Doc Finn, best friend of Goldy's godfather Jack, is killed when his car tumbles into a ravine. But Jack thinks Doc was murdered because of research he was doing at the spa, allegations that are confirmed when Jack himself is attacked.

So Goldy dons chef's whites and goes undercover at the spa. Add in the obstreperous owner, who years ago tried to sabotage Goldy's fledgling business, and she's got her hands full.

Above all, there seems to be a clever killer on the spa grounds, watching her every move. After what befell Jack, Goldy knows that she might be next. Catering weddings, and cooking low-fat food, could be killing her...literally.

The recording is messed up. The editing is terrible with chapters ending oddly and strange music coming on in the lull that continues through the first few sentences of the next chapter. Rosenblat is her usual genius. In spite of the holes in the story I still love Goldy!!

the story and the performance are top notch. what I didn't like about this book was the addition of the music every so often. it completely ruined the flow of the story.

could do without the music

This is a nice addition to a wonderful series. Try the recipies at the end. They are really good!

Wonderful series

I really enjoy this series and love Barbara Rosenblat’s narration, but the music at the end of some of the chapters is disruptive. The music doesn’t even fit the theme of the story. It is so random and goes on too long between chapters. The performance would have been 5 stars if the music had been edited out.

Great Story. Terrible Music.

I have read or listened to all of Diane Mott Davidson's books. Goldie and her cast of characters always provide an enjoyable read. I have tried many of the recipes included in the books, and they were all successes. Barbara Rosenblatt is a wonderful narrator.I look forward to each new Nevada Barr and Diane Mott Davidson book, so that I can listen to her again.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Barbara brings so much life to this kisk ass series. Diane's Goldie is so much fun!

Bridezilla and understatement

The music at the ends and beginnings of chapters was very annoying. Especially at the beginning of chapters as the narration would begin with the music
still playing.

Music?

The music between several of the chapters is annoying and takes the reader out of the mood of the book. It often cuts off the previous chapter abruptly, then plays over the narrator for several seconds into the next chapter. Change this and the performance of the book was great, as usual, and the story good fun.

I enjoyed the story and the narrative.

I really did not enjoy the transition music. I usually listen while I cook and the music always made me stop and think there was someone trying to reach me.

Loved the story did not like the music.
