About this listen

Miss Isabella Hilgrove, proprietress of the Ladies' Typewriting School, prides herself on the quality of her staff. After the Duke of Westmorland sacks the third typist she has sent him in as many days, she's not just outraged, she's determined to put the arrogant bully in his place.

Benedict Manning, Duke of Westmorland, is having the worst week of his life. A bomb has exploded on London Bridge, the Special League is unraveling, and he cannot seem to find a secretary who is not a spineless watering pot. When the prim and proper Miss Hilgrove arrives on his doorstep, calling him everything but a gentleman, he can't resist toying with her.

Their mutual attempts to teach each other a lesson quickly turn into something more. But danger is in the air, and the brooding duke and the self-avowed spinster are about to become targets of the most lethal menace London has faced....

Good listen

Really enjoy this author and actor who reads the story. Thought that this was a nice end to this series. And I like how the author included so many of the other characters from earlier books.

I hate whinny insecure women

What is entertaining about a women who is so obsessed with not understanding who she is or seeing the benefits in front of her. I had to keep skipping the dialogue to move it away from the whinnying

Don't listen to the bad reviews. Book was great!

I hesitated spending a credit to purchase after seeing reviews, but this book was great. Listened to it all and loved it. Justine Eyre is not my favorite narrator. Wish it had been Rosalyn Landor or Mary Jane Wells, but I found I like the story so much I was overlooking the narrator's performance.

Wonderful story

I really enjoyed the storyline, and the beautiful love story that it told. I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t the same narrator in the other books in the Duke Series but after listening to it for sometime, I got used to her voice and enjoyed it all!

no real exciting relationships, both lead boring

No real suspense or love plots. Hard to feel a relationship to characters and no humor

A waste of time

Repetitive scenes. Excruciatingly diffucult to finish. The heroine is frutratingly annoying, very insecure, rediculously undecided. She is definitely a unique character, uniquely stupid. Don’t bother. A waste of time.

Hated it

** spoiler alert **
21 chapters, I made it to chapter 17. I go tired of the heroin. The hero asked her to be his mistress, she said no, he asked her to marry him , she said no, but she has no problem with begging him to take her virginity on a desk.
