About this listen

In Karen Marie Moning's latest installment of the epic number one New York Times best-selling Fever series, Mac, Barrons, Ryodan, and Jada are back - and the stakes have never been higher and the chemistry has never been hotter. Hurtling us into a realm of labyrinthine intrigue and consummate seduction, Feverborn is a riveting tale of ancient evil, lust, betrayal, forgiveness, and the redemptive power of love.

When the immortal Fae destroyed the ancient wall dividing the worlds of Man and Faery, the very fabric of the universe was damaged, and now Earth is vanishing bit by bit. Only the long-lost Song of Making - a haunting, dangerous melody that is the source of life itself - can save the planet.

But those who seek the mythic song must contend with old wounds and new enemies, passions that burn hot and hunger for vengeance that runs deep. The challenges are many: the Keltar at war with nine immortals who've secretly ruled Dublin for eons, Mac and Jada hunted by the masses, the Seelie queen nowhere to be found, and the most powerful Unseelie prince in all creation determined to rule both Fae and Man. Now the task of solving the ancient riddle of the Song of Making falls to a band of deadly warriors divided among - and within - themselves.

Once a normal city possessing a touch of ancient magic, Dublin is now a treacherously magical city with only a touch of normal. And on those war-torn streets, Mac will come face-to-face with her most savage enemy yet: herself.

This is one of my favorite series!

The Fever Series is one of my favorites but this story is my least favorite story in the series and it is not because of the change in narrators. Most of the book was Mac's inter dialogue and there seemed to very little Barrons and Ryodan so it honestly did not bother me there was a change in narrators.

I see there are a lot of negative remarks about the change in narrators; however, I think they did a great job. I loved how Luke portrayed several of the characters voices especially Shazam's voice and Jill did a great job on both Mac and Jada's voices.

Looking forward to the next story in the series; however, I really hope to hear more about Dani/Jada and the rest of the characters. Mac and Barrons is starting to be redundant.

The New Fever Series Narrators Did A Good Job

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I read other reviewers bemoaning the loss of Phil Gigante. I, too, had been a long term fan of his narrations. But, like Subway's Jared, I can't overlook Phil's alleged legal problems. Now when I hear his voice, I don't find it dream-worthy--instead, I cringe. I welcome Luke Daniels as the new voice for some of my favorite Moning male characters.

Any additional comments?

I'm a die-hard Moning fan, so I'm withholding judgment on Feverborn until the next book in the series, to see if we can move past the Mac/JZB/Sinsar Dubh storyline and get on to the Song of Making/Black Hole problem. Feverborn felt like everything old was new again--almost a recap with minimal forward momentum, until the typical Moning cliffhanger ending.

Save your money!

I listened to the whole book, but barely. This book is centered more on character feelings than an actual storyline. Very little portions of the book actually referenced the song of making which, is supposed to be a big highlight of the book. The characters that should have been highlighted more, barely even came up. All I know is that the characters feel the same as the last book and nothing more. The writing should be revisited, because KMM doesn't do well with switching from character to character narration. The reading was amazing which actually helped me complete it to the end.

NARRATION IS UNBELIEVABLE BAD

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No I could not listen to Luke Daniels doing Darron's voice

What other book might you compare Feverborn to and why?

none

Would you be willing to try another one of Luke Daniels and Jill Redfield ’s performances?

yes I would BUT NOT THIS SERIES

Did Feverborn inspire you to do anything?

Yes to wright a review

Any additional comments?

the narration was really bad. Luke Daniels is great in the Iron Druid Chronicles by kevin Hearne but he can not do Barron and Ryodan like Phil Gigante . Please ,please redo this book with Phil & Natalie

Great Story. Miss old narrators. New ones okay.

Story perfection! Narration good. Soul misses Phil Gigante Natalie Ross. They will ALWAYS be Fever!

Can't listen !

What did you like best about Feverborn? What did you like least?

Only listened to first three chapters. I love the series and can't reconcile characters I love with these voices. Male characters are indistinguishable from each other, and this voice doesn't fit any of them! Female voice is ok, but only heard the voice for Mac.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I will buy the book and read with voices I love in my head.

Would you be willing to try another one of Luke Daniels and Jill Redfield ’s performances?

Yes, I'd give them a chance with other characters, just not these!

Could you see Feverborn being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Not as a stand alone story. However, I think the series would make a great mini series.

Any additional comments?

Publishers, or whoever decides on narrators, should learn to "stick with the horse that brung them," an old Southern saying. Just like J.D. Robb learned early on in the audio books of her "In Death" series, you don't change horses in mid-stream. Robb only made that mistake once. Let's hope Moning (or whomever makes the narrator choices) learns this lesson from one book.

narration was fine just different

did get bored a few times when went on too much thinking. good tho. just not my favorite. mac & barron has good ending. could thought happy & these about Dani. now with this you shifted focus away & back on trying to save her. supposedly if can be, like when prya. dont know if I want to go on & read another when feel cheated author destroyed the hard won & deserved ending with mac & barron to begin with.

I love it!!!

I loved it!!! I started listening and couldn't stop! Moning is one of my favorite authors. She really delivers!!! Loved the new character you added to the series, didn't see that one coming! And the ending!!!.... I'm going to be holding my breath until the next book comes out!!!! How long is that going to be????

However, the new narrators (they did a great job) I never got use to them. All the characters voices were wrong! It's so hard to get use to a switch in narrators in the middle of a series!

Love the story. Narrators need work.

The narrator's accent for Christian kept slipping from Scottish to Russian. Otherwise it was OK I guess.

Don't listen to all the bad reviews

I almost didn't want to buy it because of all the bad reviews.
Honestly, it was pretty good. I think everyone was just use to the old narrators. I like both sets. Ryodans voice could have been better in this one tho. They made him sound old when I pictured a younger rebellious voice. & Lor sounded too surfer dude lol.
In the beginning i was a little irritated with his voice but it was just the imitation of whoever he was doing at the time but 95% of the time he was good.
I like this Mac voice better actually, but again I liked both sets of narrators. Im just saying listen to the first 2-3 chapters before giving up.
The story- progress was very slow. Good but slow. I swear it took almost a whole chApter to say she was standing on the street in the rain reminiscing..lol. Exaggerating a little but u get my drift. I love this series but I did feel the blah blah was overkill in here. Ultimately it was a good book but could have been a gr8 one had she not filled it up with 40% story and 60% over describing.
Would I buy it again?? Uh DUH!! It's Karen Monings fever series!!! YES!!!!
