About this listen

But sometimes the heart has a mind of its own. It falls without warning.

The last thing I want to do is fall for the angry cowboy.

Blair Andrews has spent the better part of her adulthood playing trophy wife to her politician husband in San Francisco. All she knows is her pampered, polished, perfect life.

Until it all comes crashing down around her.

After hiding out in her sister’s spare bedroom for months to avoid pitying looks on the streets, she decides it’s time to escape city life and learn to stand on her own.

On a whim, Blair buys a tiny home in a small Wyoming town where she is certain her new neighbor, Griffin Barlow, can’t stand her. He owns the local bar, is constantly covered in dirt from working on his family's ranch, and never smiles.

Is he grumpy because she infiltrated his privacy when she moved onto the once quiet street? Or is there more to it than that?

Blair has sworn off relationships, leaving the city behind to start fresh and find her independence.

But in Bluestone Lakes, Wyoming, she’s finding more than that.

Maybe…she’s finding home.

Blair leaves San Francisco after catching her husband cheating—with his secretary, no less. Heartbroken but determined to rebuild her life, she heads to Wyoming in search of peace, healing, and a fresh start. She buys a tiny home by the lake in Bluestone Lakes, ready to turn the page and find her happiness.

Unfortunately, her new beginning gets off to a rocky start thanks to her grumpy next-door neighbor. But Blair’s not about to let a cranky guy ruin her reboot. She lands a job at the local bakery—only to find out her not-so-friendly neighbor is also her new boss’s brother and co-owner of the shop.

Griffin had his heart broken when his ex left him behind for the big city. Since then, he’s buried himself in work, running his bar seven days a week and swearing off love. But Blair? She’s the one disruption he didn’t see coming. The more they cross paths, the more he’s drawn to her—and the more his carefully constructed walls start to crack.

I love how his voice fits like every male character in my head. & savannah peachwood played a wonderful blair. I really felt for Blair, watching her go from broken to brave was so satisfying. And Griffin? Total grump, but in the best way once you crack his shell.

It didn’t hit every emotional beat for me, but I still really enjoyed the slow-burn vibe and second-chance energy. A sweet reminder that sometimes starting over leads you exactly where you’re meant to be.

A comforting small-town escape

This story did not catch my attention at any point. I've never cared less about any characters as I did about these. Didn't love them, Didn't hate them. I simply didn't care about them. I'm also thinking perhaps Savannah Peachwoood isn't the narrator for me. She's very breathy and this is the 2nd book she's done that I DNFed.
