About this listen

Senior purser Mia Donoghue is always on the go, leaving her little time for herself. She doesn't mind being busy; it provides distraction from painful memories and her daily struggle to stay sober.

Captain Ava Alfarsi has just been promoted, carrying more responsibility than she's ever had before. As a single, young and attractive captain, Ava has no problem meeting women, but her control issues and fear of people finding out she's far from perfect stand in the way of connecting with others on a deeper level.

When the two become aware of each other's deepest secrets, they find comfort in the knowledge that they're not alone. The attraction is undeniable as they embark on a healing journey together. Can Ava learn to let go, and can Mia somehow make peace with her past?

Both searching for strength to fight their demons, they never expected to find strength in each other. But is passion enough to keep the fire burning?

Good listening

This was not as good as the other books of Lise Gold, but it raised some important issues and they were dealt with well.
Narration was excellent

Love "up in the air" romances!

I'd say this was a good read. It was interesting and different than the stories I've read lately. That's was a bit of serious subject matter mixed in with the romance and I'd say it was a good mix. I enjoyed threw characters and their stories and struggles. This is my second Lise Gold book and I defintely look forward to more.
Audiobook was great. The narrator did an excellent job.

Unique, beautiful story.

Wonderful book of love and stuggle. So finely crafted and narrated. The characters are so powerful. This is a common theme for many people today and is so well written, sensual, sexy and believable. Will relisten again and again. Bravo.

Captain, my, my, my!

I can’t say everything I want to say, because I’ld be writing another book. The addiction was so on point that I couldn’t stop listening. I sat with a cupa tea and tablet, watching the rain fall. I sat so long I gotta cramp in my legs. L. G. You Rocked the Block, but I’m off to my next adventure.

Romance with a message

Fireflies is an important novel since, while most novels have difficulty delivering one message or theme, this one effectively and emotionally delivers TWO.
On one level, it delivers a romantic adventure, sweet, hot and believable while also, delivering a story of two women struggling with the same life altering problem.
I enjoyed the main characters immensely and their story would have held my attention, even if this was just a romance.
However, and maybe most important, their major obstacle is not a matter of love, but rather the agony of alcoholism!
I love reading romantic novels and have been doing so for a few rewarding years. However in that time, I have only read two “romantic” ones that dealt with drugs, alcoholism or mental illness.
I recently read a novel by the marvelous author Georgia Beers which explored the complications brought about when love must confront the obstacles of autism.
I think romance writers should be applauded for taking on problems that do not only fall into the usual tropes of age difference, gay or straight?, boss and employee, enemies to friends, etc!
Lastly, I learned a great deal about the travel industry, especially those hard working stewardesses and stewards. If you think it’s that romantic, you should try it for a few months 😱.
I suggest you read this story of two very personable women in their 30’s who make such a valiant effort to be together, intelligently. Passionately, and supportively.

I loved this

I don't always leave reviews. but I couldn't stop myself with this one. I myself am a recovering alcoholic. I have been sober now for 18 years. I've been so blessed to have found the love of my life. and have an awesome 21 year old son. my addiction lead to kissing him for almost 5 years. my wife never saw me in my addiction. but she knows all the stories and everything that I did during those times. She loves me anyways and has been nothing but my greatest support during my hardest times instill have to this day. to hear this story of two woman who were fighting the same battle at the same time and came out at the end stronger for it together is a rear story in a lot of circles. and it meant a a lot to hear the support they gave each other and how their families came around at the end. one side of my family never came around. my mom's side did and we're everything to me. my in-laws are amazingly wonderful and when my mom passed my mother inlaw became the mother figure I so miss. so great, wonderful job on this story and I love the voice of the narrator. thank you so much for writing this story and giving it to us!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall good book!

I enjoyed listening to this book. The plot touched on difficult topics in life but was graceful, informative, and engaging. It felt realistic and i could relate having dealt with this in my family life. The narration was also very good and brought the story to life. I liked the chemistry between the characters as well as the dynamics of the families. Overall, great book! I will continue to read/listen to this author as i haven't been disappointed yet.
