About this listen

Nash Richards was my first everything. First boyfriend, first time, first love. First heartbreak, too.

In a former life, I used to religiously attend Lakeside U's hockey games. Then my ex-who-shall-not-be-named—the team's top defensive enforcer—cross-checked my heart into the boards, and I haven't set foot in that arena since.

But when fate conspires against me, I'm assigned to complete my senior athletic training internship with Nash's team, and forced to work closely with the only guy I've ever loved. You know, the one who skated out of my life without looking back.

After what happened last time, I know better than to fall for him again. Not to mention, there's a strict no-fraternization policy between trainers and their athletes. Problem is, our chemistry is hotter than ever—and he's determined to win me back.

Before we know it, the boundaries begin to blur until we can't see them anymore. But with so much on the line, I'm risking a lot more than just my heart this time.

The guy narrator was okay, but the female… was terrible!!!! Great story, I hope they pick new narrators for the next book.

Bad Narratorszzz

I finished this book but it was mediocre. The narrators however were so bad they were awesome.
Most of the bad reviews of this book is about the female narrator but the male is just ok.
The fun part of the female narrator was that another reviewer compared her to Kristen Wiig doing one of her old lady impersonations (think Target SNL) and once I read that I couldn’t unhear it. Fun. Made me finish the book. Good times.

Not what I thought

I wanted it to be good, but it fell short for me. It had so much potential to get better

Okay storyline terrible narration

The story was a little slow the first half of the book. But picked up at the end and overall was a decent listen. However, almost couldn’t make it through with the female narration. She was way too whiny and said everything in a question form, very odd.

Nash and Violet 💜

Reread in March 2024 as audio

Audio is not the greatest, the female narrator was difficult to listen to. Overall though the story is good, and it kept me pushing through. If this was my initial read though I think I would have had to quit the audio.

Second chance romance is not my favorite, but there is something about this book that I just love. I do think the reason for their initial breakup freshman year is a bit weak . . .

I love the growth that Nash exhibits through the book. He’s aware enough that he’s creating his own pain and works through it to find happiness and break generational cycles.

poor female narration

A narrator can ruin a good story and sadly this the case here. the female narrator is bad for various reasons ( sounds like a much older than college age, intonations are very odd, etc). Male narration is better but still teeters on sounding like a book being read.

The voices

First, the female voice was terrible. Secondly, they are suppose to be 21yr olds, not 40yr olds. The voices don’t match. The story was predictable and fine. Very vanilla.

Poor choice for female narrator

I purchased this audiobook during the Black Friday sales, already knowing I like the book as I've read it in kindle form. In my rush to take advantage of the sale I forgot to sample the audio prior to purchasing or read any reviews (which I usually do) which I am now deeply regretting. The female narrator is a poor choice. She sounds much older than the character, and seems to compensate by adding a whiny quality to her performance. It's distracting. Male narrator is fine, although also skews a bit older than his character, but his voice is nice.

Read this as a book, don't listen to the audio.

Change the female narrator

I’m returning this and reading it myself. The female narrator ruins the story. The story itself is great. But the female is whiny, reads everything as a question, and is very nasal. Absolutely ruins it.
