About this listen

Lexi O'Connell has secretly been in love with Ian Callaghan for more than 10 years. So when she returns to Pine Ridge and he turns those sexy crystal blue eyes her way, she doesn't have a hope of resisting, even if she knows it can only be for one night. Even if it will break her heart. Because while she would know him anywhere, he doesn't even recognize her. Ian Callaghan is mischievous, playful, and irresistible to women. When he sets his sights on the attractive young woman who has been discreetly staring at him, he doesn't think twice about seducing her. It wasn't supposed to be more than one night. And falling in love with her was definitely not part of the plan. A few days is all Ian needs to know that Lexi is The One. His soul mate. And he doesn't understand how she can just walk away. But what Ian doesn't understand might just kill her. Contains mature themes.

Sick secrets!

The following ratings are out of 5:

Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 🙃😊😉🥰😘
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Lexi O’Connell - she is the master chef of the Celtic Goddess restaurant in Georgia and is on vacation, returning to Pine Ridge Pennsylvania, to her roots for a two-day trip. She loved to people watch, crafting a scenario for the people she sees. She already did that for most of the other passengers on the bus, when she sees a handsome man that reminds her of someone from her past, a man named Ian whom she had been in love with for all of her adult life.

The Hero: Ian Callaghan - he is former military and works special ops for the government along with his brothers from time to time. In between missions, he works at the family’s Irish pub and is quite the ladies' man. He is happy-go-lucky and full of charisma. Whenever he sees a beautiful woman, he immediately turns on the charm and tries to get her into bed.

The Story: Ian was one of the best characters in Dangerous Secrets, he was a big flirt and had such a devil-may-care attitude, that you couldn’t help but love him. On the bus, Ian sits down next to Lexi after a trip to the bathroom and she realizes that he is actually Ian Callaghan, and he doesn’t even know who she is. Lexi knew that Ian was never interested in her, she considered herself plain and never wanted to go out of her way to attract him, she had been saving herself for the ‘one’ at the time.

Ian was intrigued by Lexi from the start, he liked that she was the shy, quiet type and even liked that she seemed to have limited sexual experience, which was odd because he usually ran from someone like that. He hadn’t been close to innocence like that for a while and she smelled like sunshine. Lexi has some secrets though, and Ian wants to learn all of them.

I liked how attracted to Lexi that Ian was from the very start, how he noticed everything about her. He had been feeling especially restless since his brother Jake had found someone to love. Plus, he just returned from a dangerous mission, so he seemed more in tune with his emotions. The story was good and like the first book, the character building was great. The Callaghan family are terrific, they are a bunch of crazy brothers and an awesome father.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via solo narration. It was narrated by Aiden Snow who is one of my all-time favorite male narrators. He has a soft yet very deep voice which is so sexy. I could listen to him for days. He does a great job with this book (and with everything he narrates).

First and Only

First and Only is the second book in the Callaghan Brothers series by Abbie Zanders. Another great book. The love and passion between Lexi and Ian is so powerful it grips you and never lets go. I had this pre-ordered as soon as it was listed and can't wait for the next book. HEA and no cliffhanger.

Narration by Aiden Snow was perfection. I absolutely love his deep sexy voice. He also captures every aspect of the characters and story line so completely it feels like you are living it. If I could give more than 5 stars for the narration I would!!!

Great storytelling

I enjoyed this audiobook very much. The story was original and well written with great characters. As a nurse, there were a few things I found wrong with the medical portion of the story, but overall it was a fine story in this series. Aiden Snow did a great narration!

Heartwrenching

It's only book 2 and I'm hooked on the whole damn series. That being said I do think most of these fights were unrealistic. The amount of information they withheld from each other just seems wrong. I could see them sharing said information and one still having an issue but to just not say it... it makes listening to the conversation uncomfortable because realistically that is not how any conversation in that situation would go. Not only did their disconnect break my heart but it was frustrating that neither one of them just outright said what they were thinking. Maybe it's just me because I'm an open blunt book and like to shove other people's faces in all the information I have but I just felt it was hard to like that part of the book because of how unrealistic it was. If I'm going to hate a part of a book it needs to be because all the emotion is tearing me apart (which it did, dont get me wrong). Overall it's a great book, a great story, great series. Just felt like the author was stretching/ forcing turmoil with this couple. Aidan Snow is a great narrator, job well done.

Very good but could have been better

Enjoyable series so far with 1 minor irritant

First the good – lovely romance with two very likable characters. I, for one, have always enjoyed seeing a playboy brought to his knees when he meets his match and this story didn’t disappoint in that area. I also liked that despite not looking to settle down, Ian didn’t fight it when he realized Lexi was the one for him.

Now the bad – my one major pet peeve is heroine’s who are in one sentence written as intelligent, strong and capable and in the next you wonder if they have any functioning brain cells. ****Spoiler alert**** Lexi knows her step-sister has her claws into Ian and is desperate to be in a relationship with him, Ian has explained Kayla was only an occasional distant hook-up he now can’t stand, and yet when Kayla tells her she’s pregnant with Ian’s baby, Lexi believes her without talking to Ian and runs away because, of course, he would stand by Kayla and raise their child together. Then when she discovers her pregnancy, she doesn’t tell him because he should be with Kayla and their child not with her.

Say what? That makes absolutely no sense. Granted it created the necessary drama romances need to have but there is way to have that without the heroine being a moron.

If you can overlook that part – the book is enjoyable and the sex scenes – very hot!!

Love 💘

I have fallen in love with the Callaghan brothers. Abbie is an awesome author. These books have everything I want in a romance. Love, honor, adventure, family, understanding, forgiveness etc...and especially very steamy sex scenes. I have always enjoyed aiden snow as a narrator!
