About this listen

A moving second-chance romance where hope can turn history into a footnote.

Sasha Covey needs a rewrite. Or a really big eraser. Her past doesn't belong in the life she's trying to rebuild. Her future - and her recovery - depend on a fresh start. Moving to Colebury seems like the perfect test until Penley Brooks waltzes into the Busy Bean. The handsome veterinarian is just as charming as when she fell for him a decade ago. Memories come flooding back, and their connection is as potent as ever.

Trouble is, Sasha has good reason to keep her distance. Her recovery is still new, and the single dad has wounds of his own. After years of being an afterthought, Penley's goals are finally within reach. As much as she aches to reconnect, Sasha won't stand in the way of his dreams.

Somehow, that all melts away whenever she's with Penley. Together, dreaming is a little easier.

But dreams don't always survive in the real world. Not when the past comes knocking.

Contains mature themes.

Footnote - A bit too angsty…

…but still good story. This is especially poignant for those trying to understand how to handle loved ones with eating disorders, as well as dealing with grief.

Narration was good…I love Tim Paige⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I lost my patience with the pace of the story, but fixed that by listening at 2.0x speed.

Enjoy!💖

A little hard to get through

This was a little hard to get through. The female narrator did talk very slowly however, the male narrator was great. Sometimes it was hard to know if she was thinking or talking. The story itself was okay. I give it 3.5 stars.

I never leave reviews, but…

This book has impact. It’s a touching, beautifully written, emotional journey through a couple’s walk as they navigate her mental illness, his fear, and the challenges for their relationship those things imply.
As a person with a severe mental illness, I related to the struggles they faced, the battle Sasha fought daily, and the destructive power of silence when dealing with illness and its repercussions. I felt seen and I cried at several points in my listen to this book. Sometimes, they were tears of pain for the resonance with my own experience the story fostered, and sometimes, they were tears of joy for the sustaining possibilities of love. Then, sometimes they were tears of hope; surely, if there was recovery and love for them, then there could be for me as well.
If you want an uplifting, cathartic, and refreshingly entertaining story, this book is for you! You won’t regret it.
Oh, and btw, the narrators are excellent! Good “book boyfriend” vibes. 😉😊

Story of Bulimia

I’m all for a good backstory and the characters having baggage, but this was way too much focus on overly dramatic self-loathing monologues and incessant talk of the disease (bulimia). Maybe I don’t know enough about it, and maybe this is what it’s like to have that disease, but it certainly doesn’t make for a nice Vermont love story. It was just too much.

Great writing!! I love the way this author writes and the storyline is spectacular as I have a friend with the same disease.
