About this listen

A warrior woman, a DJ from Boston, and a love story that's out of this world....

Josie Beckett is a shock jock DJ - she's sarcastic, funny and doesn't believe in anything at all, certainly not in magic. But she's going to start believing when she finds herself no longer in her apartment's basement...but in the wild woods of another world entirely. And falling (literally) onto a woman who makes her heart skip a beat.

Attis, the mysterious, dashing woman Josie unceremoniously fell onto, was once a knight...but tragedy caused her to give up her dream. Josie is now on another world, a world where cheap coffee, 24 hour hot dog stands and radio don't exist - and she has no idea how to get home. When Attis offers to let Josie accompany her to the capital city of this strange, magical country, Josie embarks on the ride of her life. There's so much more to Attis than meets the eye, and in the span of a couple of days, Josie finds herself falling for the brooding, quiet warrior woman who was there to catch her.

Can the two women find a way back to Josie's world...or will love make Josie want to stay? And, of course, there's the tiny problem that, in the dark woods of this strange, new world, there is something following Josie and Attis....

The stories suck, but I’m addicted

Every book is copy paste for characters, and the sex scene is always the same but still I’m listening to second of these books and enjoying it. This author is obsessed with how beautiful the other woman is and her heroes couldn’t poor water out of a boot with instructions on the heel but I’m still enjoying them. You really do need to read the negative reviews for these books as they are honestly the most honest reviews and seeing several of them are written by the same people I know I’m not the only one addicted to them.

So far every character has been stuck on something from their past that’s holding them back. The plots would be about 3 pages long without us hearing how beautiful the knight is and how obsessed the main character is with the knight and how she can’t let go of the past and move on. It drives me up the wall and makes me want to slap these people but I still keep going (fast forward is my friend). I’m actually starting to understand why people like ”Soap Operas” and “The Great Gatsby” (daytime television in book form). And with that it’s on to the next book and continuing to question why my life is this boring...

Great narration!

The narrator really brought the characters to life. Most of the audio books I have listened to don't put the laugh in the "laughed" words of the character. Sarcasm, amusement, sadness, anger, banter between friends -- all WELL DONE.

Whiplash

Enjoyed the story, the characters, the performance... but be prepared for a sudden ending. There are still questions to be answered, but I guess I’ll just have to live with not knowing.

once again amazing

This was such a great book,
like the other ones I was so captivated with the story of our favorite Lady Knights.
It was very enjoyable. full of antics that will have you laughing and feeling good.
oh, and wanting more for sure.
The narration was done so well the story just came to life.

Escapism at its best.

The whole series is an action packed adventure and overall pleasurable to read. Each addition keeps the same rhythm, but grows less corny as far as character interactions. I strongly recommend getting the whole series and spending the weekend in an other world.

Coolest series

I always like listening to series, and this is by far one of my favorites. All of the books have the loved pairing of Earth woman and Knight. Each story different I. It’s own way but still having that two world magic. Ms. Essex, you inspire me to still believe in love.

Such potential

Moments of brilliance, both in the story itself and in the performance but...what I take away from this story and performance is the desire to bonk Josie on the head, time and time again, during her drawn out inner dialogs she uses to convince herself she and Attis are not meant to be. The story line has so much potential but falls a little short. The characters are so close to being well developed and believable. Is it worth a listen or a read? I finished it. If it wasn't worth the time investment, I wouldn't have. So not a glowing review but worth listening to.
