About this listen

PI Angie DeRose strives to find and rescue endangered runaways - work that stands in stark contrast to her own safe, idyllic childhood. But in the wake of her mother's sudden death, Angie makes a life-altering discovery.

Hidden among the mementos in her parents' attic is a photograph of a little girl, with a code and a handwritten message on the back: "May God forgive me." Angie has no idea what it means, and her father claims to know nothing. The lies she unearths will bring her past and present together with terrifying force. And everything she cherishes will be threatened by the repercussions of one long-ago choice - and an enemy who will kill to keep a secret hidden forever.

Wonderful from beginning to end

I would recommend this book to absolutely anyone most especially teenagers. I read some reviews that said the book was too confusing and should have been two books. I did not get this at all. I felt that it flowed nice and was woven together very well. The characters were very well-developed in the near ration was fabulous. I also felt that Miss Palmer and Mr. Gilbert made a very nice collaboration I will definitely be reading more of his books and her narration.

eeh.

This book was ok. There were quite a few parts, particularly in the last part of the book, when I wanted to smack Angie upside the head. It had a pretty good plot twist. I would give this author another try.

I ENJOYED THIS IN ONE DAY!

I couldn't stop listening! Thank goodness it was my day off and I could listen while I took care of chores. I love the main characters and how their stories intertwine. This is a sticky subject line and Daniel Palmer tackled it so well. I believe this is my first Daniel Palmer book but it definitely won't be my last. I would love to see PI Angie DeRose become a series.

Dramatic narrator

A lot of the dairy reading portions were a little too high drama for me. A lot of variation in volume for headphones

Actually a pretty good story line

The story and twist ending are great, but truthfully this book could be way shorter. I almost gave up because it just kept dragging it out. Often I would skip minutes ahead. I'd say certainly get a abridged version if you are looking into this.

Good enough

This was good enough to make me want to keep listening to find out what happened but I found myself rolling my eyes quite a bit and I listened to it on a faster speed to hurry it along. It was just okay. The narrator was good-I like when they use different voices for characters.

Great story but overly dramatic delivery

Too many exhausting breathless passages for me. I found the delivery distracting. Excellent plot however- so I stayed to the end.

Great listen!

I loved the storyline. You really feel for the victim and I found myself more cautious with what I allowed my kids to do. Scary world out there.

Loved until the last word.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I will admit, as other’s have stated, there were times where the narrator seemed to be a bit much. However, after listening for a while I became accustomed to her style and thought it was appropriate for most situations. I also loved that this book was two stories intertwined into one. Some people may not like this, but I’ve listened to books this long or longer that just seemed to drag on and on with my final thought being about how much shorter the book could have been. This story kept you engaged and focused on several things at once which I really enjoyed. I also enjoyed that this book wasn’t as predictable as others. This is my first book from this author and I hope his others are just as interesting.

Gripping and cleverly written

I can't believe this was read by one person! She was spectacular! The best performance I've heard on an audio book. I sat in my car in parking lots waiting to hear what came next. This made a sad "buzzword" very real for me and I appreciated the raw writing. Excellent all around.
