Publisher's summary

My mortal skin is gone.

I’m one of them—one of the Folk—and all I feel is anger. I’m going to kill the Carlin and her sons for everything they did to me. It’s all I care about.

But first, I have to navigate this new world, my new skin, my new brother, and, when I fall into her clutches, my fae mother—the Brid, the Seelie Queen.

I don’t like what I’m becoming, but I can’t stop it. Something’s wrong with me. Something’s missing. There’s a hollow ache in my chest, and I can’t fill it, no matter what I do. It’s like I’ve forgotten something vital from my time on unseelie land.

Why do I feel so incomplete? Why do I have an oath etched onto my skin, one I don’t remember making? Why is there a tiny black feather nestled in my throat that I can’t bring myself to take off? Why do I feel so much longing every time I see a beautiful, black-haired, black-eyed unseelie fae even though I don’t remember him at all?

My life has become yet another game of cat and mouse, but this time, it’s not just the Carlin and her sons trying to get me. New threats lurk and I have to force myself into this new fae skin to be able to fight them.

Forgotten Vows is the second in a MM fae romance trilogy about a dark fae assassin prince and a mortal. It contains mature content.

Lily mayne!!

I… Jesus. Idk where to start.

Lonan and the holly king (😉) sure do go through it. They are closer than ever now. But their story is just beginning.

The heat between them is unmatched! The story telling and world building is incredible. I can’t get over how amazingly detailed this story is.

The growth of both kings in gradual but it’s so perfect for where they are in their journey. I can’t wait for the third book to be on audible because it’s amazing.

Obsessed

I'm completely obsessed with this series! I was left sad and heartbroken from Mortal Skin, but this book made up for that all. Ash and Lonan are everything! Between all the quests and hardships they had to endure, their love powers through. I know we still have many more obstacles to overcome, but I can't wait to see them persevere. What a great follow-up to the first book, and I definitely can't wait for the next and final one. Also, I felt Joel Leslie's narration really improved in this book, really made me feel the characters' love for one another. I very much enjoyed!

Absolutely amazing

I didn't think I would like these fantasy books as they're not my usual. However these pull you in with rich landscapes and well developed characters. I can't wait for the next one!

Twists and Turns Continue with Folk Lore

This book was an awesome second addition to the folk series. Now that the plot has thickened, things escalate and it will grip you attention especially as it intertwines the pov of ash and Lonan. If you liked the first book, you’ll love the second.

dark and broody

I love Lily's work, this is a book about forgotten love and fate. The voice actor did an okay job portraying all of the characters, but if I didn't read this book on KU beforehand I would have felt confused about who was talking because they all sort of blended together. anyways, if you want to feel the sad desperation of 2 characters constantly regretting their magical life choices, even though they have literally zero control over their circumstances then this is the book for you!

I love it!

I love the main characters and their relationship, some part are heart felt and emotional. I can't wait for the next book.
My only complaint is the last of world building, I wish the author will show us more of a fae world.
You can never go wrong with Joel Leslie, although, sometimes I think he's a bit over the top.

Story great, performance meh

I can really see that Joel Leslie really like his job. I mean he seems like a great guy (I have seen his interviews) I just can’t stand his slip (which hurts my ears) and sometimes he is over the top.
As for the story, I must say I enjoyed it more than the first one. I felt there was more danger and more events that kept you reading it. I am planning to read the third book.
But I must say that this story is weak compared to Lily’s monster stories. I have enjoyed them more. Even though the biological side of things don’t make sense at all.

Still not in love with this series.

3.5 stars rounded up.

A step up from the first in the series. Actually has a HFN, engaging plotline and actual things happening, and fae shenanigans! The mysterious assassin prince turns into the biggest remorseful mess and his POV is grovel city.

Going in with little expectations, this was fine. Again, I appreciate that this series toes the line between the SFF and Romance genres, while not really being either of them.

I don't think I care enough to wait around for and read the last book in the trilogy, but will happily pretend like everything works out and HEA's for all happened in this one.
