A deadly prophecy must be stopped before all is lost. Trust none, sacrifice all: words to live (or die) by in this edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller of deceit and intrigue.

Five days before the presidential inauguration, rookie Special Agent Emma Noble is tasked with her first assignment—informing a shy young man from Boston that he is the victim of the most infamous kidnapping of the past century.

Ben Danvers is not the child of a quiet Vermont couple. His birth mother is a wealthy politician soon to be sworn in as the US vice president. Stunned by the realization that his life is a lie, Ben runs from the DC spotlight, searching for answers about the woman that raised him. What he discovers is a brutal cult preparing to fulfill a deadly prophecy.

As the clock ticks toward the inauguration, a platoon of assassins is deployed. Ben Danvers is being hunted. His girlfriend is in mortal danger. Hundreds of American leaders are in the crosshairs. Emma Noble races against time, searching for clues—discovering the truth hidden in the tangled threads of a plot set in motion two decades ago, a prophecy that has crept into the darkest corridors of power. Emma can trust no one.

Across the nation, a rising tide of hate, fear, and conspiracies threatens to overtake the levees of common sense. Emma Noble is only a rookie. Ben Danvers is no hero. Together, they must risk everything.

Andrew Bridgeman has nearly as many twists in his own story as there are in his novel. A former rugby player, jazz singer, salesman, and entrepreneur, he finds inspiration in the characters he’s crashed into along the way. Andrew Bridgeman studied creative writing at Dickinson College and earned his MBA from Washington University in Saint Louis. After decades in the St. Louis area, he now lives in New Hampshire with his wife, Kathy. He enjoys hiking in the mountains near his home, playing guitar, and exploring the US in an Airstream RV. Fortunate Son is the author’s debut novel.

The whole story is excellent and the author keeps you wanting to read more. Very suspenseful and well told. The narrator did a great job also.

Suspenseful and well told

If you are fan of fast-paced crime thrillers, Fortunate Son will not disappoint! Think Dan Brown or early Tom Clancy. Fun, intelligent, escapist fiction. Narrator’s pace felt a little slow. Listening on 1.2 speed was perfect.

Wild ride!

This was an incredibly engaging book filled with emotional twists. Bridgeman crafted a thought-provoking world that explores a captivating "what if." The intricate plot kept me guessing about who would come to the protagonist's aid. It's an impressive debut novel, and I can't wait to see the movie adaptation!

Hooked me from the beginning

The Vermont conversations were so real. Enjoyed following the long game of the prophecy.

Engaging characters creative plot

Overall story had a good, thought-provoking basis, but the twists and turns all came from essentially the same origin, which made them feel repetitive or overused. The narrator seemed to be intentionally keeping her voice overly flat during large portions of the book, and then would be overly expressive or emotional during the action scenes that were supposed to be suspenseful which distracted from the actual events.

Average thriller with some high points
