Publisher's summary

Aliens exist...and, as it turns out, most of them are fairly harmless. It's the humans you need to watch out for.

Priya Radcliffe wasn't even born yet when the first set of terrorists struck. She was 17 when they struck again, but this time her parents paid the ultimate price.

That was seven years ago, and since then, the United Nations finally agreed to field its first spaceborne military. Serving aboard one of the first true starships had been a dream of hers. All of her years of education and training had been geared for entering the service.

However, just before Priya's graduation, she's approached by an officer from a military branch she'd never heard of and given a choice: volunteer for a risky mission to an outpost she knows nothing about or be excluded from serving.

She had no choice.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book

It’s often difficult to make a sequel as good as the first book, but Rothman pulled it off. The only thing I wish was that the book was a bit longer. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

More like an "Episode" - Short

More like an "Episode" - the book was short and seemed more quickly thrown together rather than developed.

Fantastic sequel!

I wish I could say it was a real page -turner, but obviously I listened to it instead of buying the paper version. The story is really really good, and the characters are relatable. Rothman does his homework on the science and his execution is riveting. I found myself neglecting other pastimes in order to listen...

Ok story, weird political overtones

The story was ok, probably too close to the last book with the warp bubble stuff which made the ending predictable. And the political overtones detracted from the story. Especially the anti-vegetarian b.s. I’m not a vegetarian, but it’s pretty obvious with the level of tech in the book they could make good tasting artificial meat. I got the impression that the author is conservative with a naive understanding of liberal ideas.

Less politics and more good sci-fi

I was impressed with the first book, but the author's need to inject their politics into this book was disappointing.

Sci-Fi at its finest!

Great story! I love learning and relearning physics. Rothmans weaves in so much education without me realizing it.
