About this listen

After narrowly escaping fiery death in Out of the Flames, San Francisco police detective Manhattan Sloane and DEA Agent Finn Harper embark on something even more perilous: bringing to justice all those responsible for the murder of Sloane's wife, and rekindling the love they had for each other as teens. Both have the potential to burn them badly - and scar Sloane's grieving stepdaughter, Reagan.

Even as Sloane rediscovers that life without love is no life at all, she is learning that parenthood - especially single parenting - means making sacrifices. Can she have it all? Finn and Reagan and the badge she has worn with honor for almost nine years? Or will a cartel drug lord bent on revenge force her to not only betray her conscience - but also fail to save the ones she loves?

This was even better than the previous book about Sloane and Finn. The ending was bittersweet because of Sloane and Erick. Hope that gets resolved in the next book!

This series, A Manhattan Sloane Thriller could totally become a movie or TV show! The book From the Ashes starts off from the previous book, Out of the Flames, which was great because I was able to jump right into it. Sloane and Finn have amazing chemistry and I can’t wait for another thrilling adventure with these ladies. Definitely recommend!

Action and Drama!

Not sure how many more there are going to be but if Lori Prince is going to read them I’m in

Can’t wait for the next one !

Sloan may have played around and broken many hearts, but she was lucky to find love not only once, but twice. Avery taught her what it was to live, love and raise her teenage daughter, but her 1st childhood crush will be her last love.

A Great Match

I liked it better than the first one. it didn't feel as rushed and choppy as the first one.

Stacy Lynn Miller is excellent. This one kept me on the edge of my seat! Strong plot, great characters and fast paced. Lori Prince always great as a narrator. Can't wait until the next one!

Had hoped for some me pantie-dampening love scenes between the main characters, amid the twists of a suspenseful mystery/thriller. However, the timing of the sex scenes was really awful. It was off-putting in the extreme. Dried me right up. SPOILER ALERT (Read no further if you don't want major plot points ruined for you.) Finn and Sloane choose the absolute worst times to get all horny for each other. Example: Right after Sloane's daughter is almost torched to death by the bad guys, after almost not being rescued from kidnappers. They had just rescued the girl, but Sloane sent her off with her grandparents, so that she and Finn can boink like bunnies. I mean, she almost lost her daughter to either a hail of bullets, or a fiery death, doused with gasoline. And right after that, all she can think to do is fall in bed with Finn. BIG turnoff! Other sex scenes are also inappropriately timed.

A solidly suspenseful whodunnit.

I really enjoyed From the Ashes. It's a great follow up to Out of the Flames.

Great.

I love the characters and the performance of the narrator is good. Definitely recommend! Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Good solid book

I love Lori Prince, but she really doesn't do accents all that well. But other than that, it's a great story. I'll be honest, the way Sloane and Eric become really pissed me off. Probably the weakest part of the story.

Pretty good
