About this listen

The Realm of Dreich is a getaway for the rich and powerful, a medieval-inspired town in the middle of a vast frozen wilderness. Now it’s the site of a wedding, intended to join two feuding families who have spent centuries in an uneasy truce with each other.

When Tommy Carpenter asks his best friend, Nate Garrett, to help him with the security of the wedding, Nate reluctantly agrees, knowing that it will be a long weekend of work and, in all probability, treachery.

It is only a matter of time before members of each family are found murdered and it is up to Nate and Tommy to find the killer before more bodies fall, potentially reigniting a war.

Loved it!

Love loved it! Steve has such an amazing world built in this series. It was very nice to get my fix with this novella in between full books. I’ve always enjoyed Simon as narrator, he is Nate’s voice in my head.

Weddings, good god

Talk about your messed up weddings, yes there will be blood just noone said literally. Well until now. People shouldn't complain about horrible weddings after this.

Nathaniel Garrett is just doing a favor for Tommy.

Easy weekends work, security at a wedding. A wedding filled with Werelions and Werewolves.
Did I mention that the twonhave been fueding for centuries? What could go wrong... Oh I also for3to mention a smart @$$ fox who we all know and love, is there stirring the pot.

Its a quick novella but it packs a punch 👊
Steve has uet to dissapoint!

Wonderful..

Not understanding this! I've read all the Hellequin Chronicles and the last one was written in 2018 and suddenly there's a novella written 2 years later? Why?**********

Anyway, it was a good story, about a wedding that went wrong and 5 people were killed, before lots and lots of werelions attacked the castle where the wedding was supposed to take place and started killing all the werewolves, as well as the human wedding guests************

No sex and the F-bomb was used 18 times***********

As to the narration: As usual, Simon Mattacks did a fantastic job on all the voices.

Good short story & narrator

I like the species war aspect mostly because it provides information about these particular species in this book, adds excitement & action.
Not much in the way of character development (which is to expected in a short) but the characters are enjoyable all the same.
This was my first book by this author and I will look for more.
The narrator did a good job but 2 reasons I didn’t give him 5 stars: he didn’t adjust his much for most other characters, especially the female ones & he speaks too quickly. A good flow is one of the many necessities of a narrator but some just miss the mark with too long of pauses or speaking too slowly and while those things weren’t an issue for this narrator, he did speak too quickly imo - not too badly- but enough that I dropped the narration speed on my app down just 1 adjustment.
Overall a good job by the narrator & author & I’ll look for more books by both.
