Publisher's summary
Tara Walker dreams of more excitement than slinging plates of seafood for Cape Cod tourists, but as she learns when she is attacked and forced to fight for her life, fate sometimes has a funny way of giving you exactly what you wish for. Faced with strange new powers and embroiled in a murder investigation, Tara must now race to uncover the secrets of the ancient Fury that has woken inside of her - and of the evil that stalks her.
As if Tara's life hasn't gotten complicated enough, she is forced to ally herself with Jackson Byrne, witness to her assault and uncle to a pint-sized oracle whose fate is intertwined with hers. Skeptical, stubborn, and oh-so-sexy, Jackson wrestles with demons of his own. He is determined to ignore the attraction rising between them even faster than the body count, but like it or not, he and Tara need each other if they are to unravel the mysteries that surround them.

Story
It’s the middle of the night when Kathleen hears fighting coming from her neighbor Sheila’s apartment. As disturbing as that is, it’s the ominous sound of silence afterwards that keeps Kathleen from falling back to sleep. Slipping from bed with the intention of making sure everything is okay, Kathleen knocks on her friend’s door, only to find Sheila murdered, her naked body sprawled on sheets stained crimson with her blood. Shock and horror are followed by gritty determination when it becomes clear that Sheila’s death isn’t random and it isn’t the result of a jealous boyfriend.

Charley sees dead people. That's right, she sees dead people. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

As a college student, I spend my days in class and my evenings selling sage to PTA moms who do moon rituals to manifest better parking spaces. My best friend is a cat who likes pizza, and a “night out” includes hand delivering mysterious packages to the local “coven” of small business owners who repeatedly invite me to their meetings - clothing optional. My life is weird. But it’s not magic. Magic isn’t real. At least, that’s what I believed - right up until the moment he walks into my store.

Fear the fury in the alley . . .
Meeting the furies was so much fun. I loved meeting Tara. Jackson was a bit different. I was not sure of him at first. I found some great characters and an intense relationship that was worth getting to see more of. I would love to have more of the furies. I found this introduction to be exciting and alluring.
Narration of the audio was acceptable but the audio quality was lacking. There was a background static that distracted me from the audio for the first few hours of the book. Then it sort of fade or I just blocked it out. Afterwards, I had to go back and listen to the book a second time because I enjoyed the story but was a bit put off by the sound quality of the audio.

Solid start to a series
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Nicola R. White. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
This was a solid start to a series. The world building was good and I really felt empathy for Tara. Being thrust into a completely new and odd world is stressful enough, but then add to that the guilt and horror of having taken someone's life. Yes, the guy's actions were completely awful, but Tara wrestles with the guilt of literally sucking the life out of him.
The romance between Tara and Jackson was explosive. I pictured Dean Winchester for Jackson. Protective, suspicious of everything but has a good heart and wants to do the right thing. He's furiously (get it? haha) protective of Ruby and I loved it. I was rooting for him and Tara from the moment he walked into the bar and she laid eyes on him.
Tara's roommates were the best. Their personalities are so different but they all mesh so well together, probably because they are so different. I love how fiercely supportive they were. I don't think Tara would have handled everything being thrown at her as well without them.
Last but certainly not least, the narrator. She was really good. Not the best I've listened to but certainly not the worst. I will absolutely search out more books read by her.

Outstanding. I want more!
Wowzers! Nicola R White has completely impressed me for the second time! This book really couldn't be more different than Man's Ruin yet it has an author in common and she is an incredible talent!
I absolutely loved this brilliantly, well written, paranormal romance that started out crazy wild and maintained that level of surprise and intensity throughout. The characters are outstanding and all so well developed and each is interesting in their own way.
I don't want to give any more away than you can glean from the synopsis because this book really deserves to deliver every punch that it packs. With shocks, surprises and Tara's fabulous dry sarcasm in the face of everything she has to face, this audiobook really is the gift that keeps giving!
Elizabeth Tebb is an outstanding voice actor. While maintaining individual and recognisable voices that suited each character, Elizabeth draws us into the excitement of the story that Nicola has written. She brings attitude, intensity and completely drew me into this brilliant story.
I truly did not want this audiobook to end and I hope that Audible don't hang around and that the rest of this series is available a.s.a.p! I will be the first in the queue when they become available.

What An Exciting Story, I Want More!
This is #01 in the New England Furies Series.
HEA with No cliffhangers!
This is a connected series, with interacting characters, places, and themes. I would recommend reading these in order.
Content Advisory:
There is sex, dirty talk, and cursing. 👍 This is action packed so things are all part of the action.
There is a attempted rape scene in the beginning.
If you like Mythology, you are going to love this title! Lots of Greek lore that isn't touched on as much, which is refreshing. The Furies take front and center, and they are pretty bad-ass!
Hell has no Fury like a woman scorned!
This series focuses on 3 Hot Messes of roommates that are also BFFs. They will come to inhabit a Fury to ultimately stop a big bad, maybe more than one, that is coming into our world. Well, that is over simplifying it, because these ladies are pretty bad in their own right. Alecto, Fury of Vengeance, finds her home in Tara. The shadow cat Fury of Jealousy, Megaera, finds a fitting home in Alex. While the slightly more logical Fury or Murder, Tisiphone, finds a home in Rach. Apate, Eris, and Keres are all mentioned as the potential foe, so not for sure if there is going to be more than one Top Villain, or all three.
Fury's Kiss focuses on Tara Walker the waitress. Once this story gets going, its hard to put it down. There is a little bit of everything that makes a great Paranormal read. There is romance, some laughs, adventure, the girlfriends you wish you had, super awesome powers, plus all the great bits of mythology you know and love. Plus some that I knew about but not in as much detail as I do now!
The Gang comes together quite quickly. You are introduced to all the major players of the the first 3 main books so I would suggest reading in order, as there are tid-bits that help fill out a character's profile that you would loose if you start in the middle. Only #01 is in audio at this moment, but there are plans to get the others out soon. That's about the only bad thing I can say about this title and series. The E-Books are available on Amazon for all that is currently written, just not audio.
Nicola R. White has created some awesome characters I just can't get enough of. 😊 I can't wait for the rest of the series to make it to audio. This was my first listen and won't be my last!
This was my first listen by Elizabeth Tebb. I could totally get lost in the story which is what you want from narrator. I did not like the Cajun accent for Ty. I grew up in the area that accent comes from and it did not work for me. Luckily it's not used much.
Normal speed was fine, however I listened at 0.90x. It is my personal preference.
Audiobook obtained at my request and I am voluntarily leaving this unbiased review.

Exciting paranormal full of ancient magic
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Nicola R. White. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
I found Fury's Kiss intriguing and enjoyed the mystical aspect of it. Having our main character suddenly display special superpowers starts the book off with a bang, and it slowly unravels the mystery as Tara learns about the fury goddess inside her and her new abilities.
With the help of her "Scooby gang" group of friends and allies, including a young girl who is legit an oracle, our fury "snake lady" takes off after the big bad.
I loved that the big bad wasn't revealed right away, and even when he was, there was so much more to the story. The truth was so much darker. And more epic, of course.
My main complaint is when stories have a romance like this one - one of them denying their feelings and being quite the jerk about it. The let me give into my primal urges right here in the backyard and immediately say oh no but we can't be together - it drives me nuts, especially since it's such a common romance trope. But the sizzle between them was serious and spicy.
I definitely enjoyed the audiobook narration. The different accents and voices given to each character were great, and the voices fit each character's mood and age well. One to add to the listen again list for sure.

A Different Kind of Paranormal Romance
Tara just wants to have a good night out after being stood up on her date, the first one she has had in a long time. When she ends up at the bar and is rejected by the most attractive man she has ever met, her mood is even more soured. But while leaving, a man makes a move on her, flattering at first, until it escalates into unwanted and something inside Tara flipped and she attacked him. When she learns that the man she attacked was found dead by seemingly supernatural means, Tara realizes that she is no longer alone inside her body.
This is the second series I have encountered about Furies and I have no idea why these cool and dangerous creatures are not more common in the supernatural fiction world! This story was wholely unique due to how the furies come to be and have a host body- creepy and perfect at the same time. The supernatural elements were great, full of details and imagery, making me see what was going on and love it. I go to know Tara as well as the Fury that lived within her, each with a different personality and motivation. Also the mysterious plot of the book was very well done, with a surprising twist that I did not expect making the story more interesting.
I loved Tara and her girls and the dynamic between them was great, you can tell they are life long friends and have her back no matter what (if being possessed by a Fury doesn't scare them away probably nothing will!). I also really loved the interactions between Tara and her Fury Elekto, they argued and almost never agreed, but the conversation between them was interesting and at times hysterical and very honest and I enjoyed watching them bond and become a team as opposed to always at odds.
Ok so I really enjoyed the narrator and her performance for the main character Tara, she gave her personality and spunk, making me like her a lot and I understood her internal conflict pretty well... But, I absolutely hated the voice the narrator used for the love interest Jackson, with his very annoying nasally pseudo-southern accent. I had no idea how the main character could be attracted to him because I just wanted him to stop talking (or violence would ensue). Her other male voices were perfectly fine and I didn't mind them at all, but Jackson was really the worst.
I was a little less enamored by the romance aspect of the book, I actually would have liked it better if the romance was a far backseat (yes, I know that is not possible when reading a romance story) or more getting to know each other before the overwhelming physical relationship took forefront. The romance did end up developing more as the book progressed and I felt a little more in favor of them being together and I will admit that I found the ending very satisfying.
Keep in mind that this is just the ending for this leg of the journey and Tara and Jackson's romance story, but this is the first in a series with different MC for each book all set in the same world with a common terrifying enemy!

A must read
Nicola whites wrote an amazing story. I have found myself gravitating towards Greek mythology and fantasy-based stories recently. I don’t know if it’s just the kind of mood but I am really into it right now. Fury’s Kiss is an amazing story. I have never really thought about fury in terms of books before. I have seen a lot of TV shows that have to do with Greek mythology and furious were in them. I think Elizabeth Tebb really brings the story to life. When a voice actor takes on the role as a narrator for an audiobook I really honestly believe that they will either make or break the store him. It’s all about the experience when listening to an audiobook.
Nicola as I said wrote an amazing story. The overall mythology I found to be really interesting and I really want to sink my teeth into the next Book this way I can just keep myself immersed into this world. I really like the idea that furies aren’t just to these killing machines. I know that they are meant for revenge and justice. I learned that they can also help people and well into justice they can help protect people as well. They don’t need to just kill. To learn about the sisterhood of the fury is really cool. In some sort of way they kind of remind me of Valkyries I know that they’re not the same thing but if I had to think of something comparable it would be the Valkyrie. Again I know completely different jobs but at the same time Valkyries or women and there’s a sisterhood there and they need one another to help bring warriors to help that final battle. I would love to get more into the mythology side of all of this. And where the furies ever just themselves?
Also, I think I should’ve mentioned that this book in my opinion would be classified more as a new adult novel. So if you are under the age of 17 I would ask your parents because there are sex scenes in this novel so and they get pretty hot and heavy so please keep that in mind if you want to read this book I would definitely get the parents permission if you are under the age of 17.
This is just one of the many questions that I have and I hope that will be answered in one of the later books. I know that there are four books out total and this one that I currently read is the only audiobook.
When I was a kid I hated reading physical books so I always turn to audiobooks. Even as an adult I still prefer audio box to regular reading because to me it’s so much easier to visualize and I really think that Elizabeth does a very good job in Helping me create such a visual that is not only pleasing to me but really helps immerse myself in the experience of listening to this book. This is the first book that I’ve ever read by Nicola and this is also the first book that I have heard Elizabeth narrate.
Elizabeth does an amazing performance. Her voice is so rich and smooth that I had to stop myself from nodding off a time or to. For me this is a really good asset when it comes to an audiobook because it means I can just fully relax and let my mind wander back into this world and having a voice actor who is able to do that I love. I have a lot of go to narrators that I will listen to and a lot auto buy storytellers that I will buy their audiobooks. For me I just want to immerse myself in the box that they are narrating and Elizabeth has definitely become one of them for me. I will have to say though that I found the range of voices for males to be kind of limiting. There were a total of two different southern accents that were good and one British accent that I foundTo be authentic sounding. Now for me when I listen to an audiobook I typically tend to listen to it at double the speed or triple the speed. That’s just how I personally tend to listen to my audiobooks. When I do start off though I will started at 1.6 times the speed just so I can kind of hear what a narrator really sounds like and their speech patterns. When a voice actor tends to talk really fast I don’t have to speed up the audiobook too much because then I won’t be able to catch what they’re saying. Elizabeth when she speaks she enunciate every word so it’s a bit of a slower tone. Which is great for people who can’t really keep up with fast talking. I find for me that if a narrator talks a little slower it really impacts my view of the story. And I really don’t enjoy myself as much. Having the ability to speed up the track I find that for me it just makes it a more enjoyable experience.
When I first started listening to it I did hear a lot of white noise. And when Elizabeth was going into the fury’s Voice she had to make her sound more snake like and I found that when she exaggerated her ass a little bit I really didn’t like what I did to the audio. If that made sense when I did end up speeding it up I found that that went away. Another point I would like to bring up is that because I do speed up my audios it’s important for me that the tone of the story doesn’t change too much. I know that when you speed something up the voices time to go a little bit higher in page and it doesn’t sound like how the voice actor should sound. I have to say I didn’t find that with this book. Which for me is pretty phenomenon.
I would definitely highly recommend this audiobook to people who I love audiobooks or somebody who wants to get in to listening to audiobooks. Whether I can say I would prefer this over the physical book I definitely have to say I prefer this over the physical book. I have the choice I would always prefer to go for the audiobook.

A Great Start To a New Series!
I don’t what to say about this book. This book follows Tara's journey, and what happens when after she is attacked, with her life in danger something ancient awakes inside her.
Tara lives with her 2 best friends Alex and Rachel, who try to help Tara, come to terms with her new path in life. Tara is lucky to have the support of Nora, Ruby her young daughter and Ruby’s Uncle Jackson who gets involved against his better Judgement.
This quite a fast paced adventure with evil chasing them and sometimes catching them. This is a great paranormal story which uses ancient legends and myths to bring to life this entertaining book. When Tara's Fury Electra helps save the life of a young oracle Ruby. So instead of waiting for evil to come them, they decide to go and face it. This is book one, so we have quite a bit world building, and getting to know the players. This book was definitely Tara and Jackson's romance, so we have a complete story with a happy ever after for the main couple. Obviously a larger story arc will follow on to book two. A great start to an interesting new take on ancient myths and legends.
Elizabeth narrated all the voices including the male. I wasn’t pulled from the story once, so for me that is a big win. I was riveted from start to finish.

Very promising series
Tara Walker is a waitress with a dream of owning her own someday. One night while hanging out a hole in the wall club called Spiders she runs across a man who out in the parking lot tries to rape her. Surprised and appalled Tara finds a strength and whole lot more she didn't know she was capable of.
Tara is what is known as a Fury. She is fixing to get her first of many lessons on what she really is and how to use her special powers to clean up the streets in her community. She can read minds, she can kill with a kiss, and so much more. Furies job is to bring vengeance to the world. If a fury doesn’t kill by taking energy from a person that is guilty of truly heinous crimes, then she starts to lose her own energy and could die. Whether Tara likes it or not and can stomach it or not her new lot in life is to kill the bad people and suck their energy as she is doing it.
While getting used to her knew life, she is falling for Jackson. Jackson is an Ex navy Seal with a ton of guilt on his shoulders. Jackson is trying to take care of his sister-in-law, Nora, and her daughter Ruby, to assuage his guilt over his brothers death. Ruby is special also. She is a seer, and whether Jackson likes it or not she is there to help Tara.
I really enjoyed the story Nicola R. White has written. I can't wait or book 2 to see where Tara goes and what she does next. I wasn't totally sold on Elizabeth Tebb's narration. Se did a pretty good job with the general narration, I wasn't crazy about some of her voices though. She did keep the story flowing nicely, and did keep my attention though.
