Publisher's summary

In this "masterly" thriller from the acclaimed author of The Town, the right‑hand man of one of the most infamous mob bosses in American history goes on a dangerous mission (New York Times Book Review).

In the late 1970s, The Outfit, led by Tony Accardo, has the entire city of Chicago in its grip. When the bracelet he bought his wife is stolen in a jewelry heist, Tony has his loyal soldier Nicky Passero track it down—by whatever means necessary. What Accardo doesn't know: Nicky has a secret which has made his life impossible and has put him in the pocket of the FBI.

Based on the true story of Tony Accardo, the longest‑reigning mob capo in history, Gangland is a Shakespearean drama of integrity, lost honor, and revenge. Gritty and action‑packed, it is Chuck Hogan's most thrilling novel yet.

Much better than I thought

I enjoy reading nonfiction true crime I'm fimilar with . NYC with the five family's- commission meetings - names - Gotti , Vito Genovese , Fat Tony , The Chin Gigante , bur I think I read most of em . I really enjoy the era when I was growing up 70s , 80, 90s when those guys were powerhouses , literally ran NYC . NJ & some of Philly. This was my first one about "THE Outfit" Chicago's guys. It would be awesome to know the TRUTH. The way it really went down . Loved it just the same tho. Thank you .

Fictional true crime!

Brilliant plot, wonderful characters, including a lot of Tony Accardo and Doves Aiuppa—real scary gangsters. Great performance and the voices and accents are spot on. Just get it if you love the genre of crime fiction.

fantastic!

Like a breath of fresh air. Hogan was concerned with telling a compelling and interesting story before anything else, which is an increasingly rare trait among fiction authors these days. For instance one of the characters sexual orientation was not the point of the story, the story wasn't written to serve that trait. Fantastic book.
