About this listen

Jack Sparks died while writing this book.

It was no secret that journalist Jack Sparks had been researching the occult for his new book. No stranger to controversy, he'd already triggered a furious Twitter storm by mocking an exorcism he witnessed.

Then there was that video: 40 seconds of chilling footage that Jack repeatedly claimed was not of his making, yet it was posted from his own YouTube account.

Nobody knew what happened to Jack in the days that followed - until now.

Beautifully written and brilliantly read by Joe Jameson, this is by turns a thought provoking, hilarious and mega creepy yarn. Just when you think you know Jack, author Arnopp throws another curveball. Can’t say enough about the quality of the narration. Completely original, highly recommended.

The thinking person’s spook story

Took a chance on this book and so glad I did. First and foremost, the narrator is amazing! He totally sells this book (very talented.) The author did a wonderful job with this story. It was witty at times and downright creepy too. The ending was PERFECT! So many authors can write a fantastic storyline, but fail with their conclusions. Arnopp, well done!!!

Wow! Very good!

Mr. Sparks isn't a very nice fella, but he isn't a horror of horrors either. In today's media-driven world, he made an awful sort of sense to me. I was able to set aside our differences and look for our commonalities. In other words, Jack is a nicely fleshed-out character. As the story moved on and the nasty, creepy bits started piling up like old bones, I found myself caught up with Jack and puzzling over what might happen to him.

I was enthralled, despite an unlikable lead character.I am looking forward to more from author.

Great Story!

That was a very weird and uncomfortable experience but I’m giving it full marks just based on how intensely I needed it to be over but still devoured every second.

Omg

not an epically stellar book but it's got a lot of good things going for it. I almost returned the book because the first 3rd dragged to me. glad I stuck with it though. to me the book kept getting better and better right to the end

4 stars is pretty accurate

Liked = writing style, narration and pace.
Disliked = story was a little bit too fantastical but if you can suspend the “ok Jason Arnopp, you don’t need to have ALL the sci-fi and paranormal stuff jam packed into one book” annoyance you can truly enjoy this book. The only thing it is missing is a leprechaun and aliens.

With all that said I am able to suspend my disbelief and enjoy The Last Days of Jack Sparks to its fullest!

What does Demetri Martin Say? “The best part about being dumb is that it makes magic a lot better”

I hated this main character so much...but you’re suppose to.

If you like ghost stories, you’ll like this book.
If you think the amazing randy is a bore, get this book.
It’s as funny as it is vicious.

Glad I found this

This book is a cool example of an unreliable narrator (two unreliable narrators actually). The main character, Jack Sparks, is such an unbearable egotistical narcissist that it’s almost hard to listen to him. The last couple of hours take a turn and there is a redemption arc, but it just drags. Then the story changes tacts and becomes about something else. It was just too much and I wanted it over.

This was soooo long in the end.

The author shows tremendous skill as he threads everything small twist and turn into a jaw-dropping finale. It is a true and well thought out horror that grabs hold of you until the end.
